Otto Hageberg
Otto Annkjell Hageberg (12 July 1936 – 24 November 2014) was a Norwegian literary historian. He was born in Fitjar. He was hired at the University of Oslo in 1964, and was promoted to professor in 1985. He was a member of the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters. Notable releases include ''Frå Camilla Collett til Dag Solstad. Spenningsmønster i litterære tekstar'' (1980) and ''På spor etter meining. Essay om samtidslitteratur og om litterær tradisjon'' (1994), and he has biographed Olav Duun and Ragnvald Skrede. He retired as a professor in 2006. He died in November 2014. Fitjar () is a municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The municipality is located in the traditional district of Sunnhordland. Fitjar municipality includes the northern part of the island of Stord and the hundreds of surrounding islands, mostly to the northwest of the main island. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Fitjar. The municipality is the 317th largest by area out of the 356 municipalities in Norway. The Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters ( no, Det Norske Videnskaps-Akademi, DNVA) is a learned society based in Oslo, Norway. Its purpose is to support the advancement of science and scholarship in Norway. History The Royal Frederick University in Christiania was established in 1811. The idea of a learned society in Christiania surfaced for the first time in 1841. The city of Trondhjem had no university, but had a learned society, the Royal Norwegian Society of Sciences and Letters, established in 1760. The purpose of a learned society in Christiania was to support scientific studies and aid publication of academic papers. Olav Duun
Olav Duun (21 November 1876 – 13 September 1939) was a noteworthy author of Norwegian fiction. He is generally recognized to be one of the more outstanding writers in Norwegian literature. He once lacked only one vote to receive the Nobel Prize in Literature, and was nominated twenty-four times, in fourteen years. Early life Duun was born in the traditional district Ytre Namdal, on Jøa an island in the Namsen Fjord in Fosnes municipality, Nord-Trøndelag county, Norway. His parents were Johannes Antonius Duun and Ellen (Fossum) Duun. Olav Duun was born Ole Johannesen Raaby. Duun was the oldest in a family of eight siblings. Ragnvald Skrede
Ragnvald Skrede (24 April 1904 – 16 August 1983) was a Norwegian author, journalist, literature critic and translator. Biography Ragnvald Skrede was born in Vågå in Oppland county, Norway. Skrede was the youngest of seven children. He was a student at Elverum teacher school (1921–24). In 1928, he was hired as a teacher and sexton in Rauland, in Telemark. He studied at the University of Oslo (1928–1934). In 1934, he became a teacher in Vågå. In the postwar years, Skrede worked as a journalist and literary critic for ''Verdens Gang'' and ''Dagbladet'' and a theater critic for '' Bondebladet''. Skrede was 45 years old when he began his writing in the year 1949. As a poet, he often used the classic and permanent stanza forms.
