Ottersweier
Ottersweier is a municipality in western Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is part of the district of Rastatt, and lies between the larger towns Bühl and Achern. History 18th Century In 1774, the widow Margravine Maria Viktoria Pauline von Arenberg moved her residence from Baden-Baden to Ottersweier to establish a convent school for the Augustinian choir nuns in the former residence of the Jesuits. In the convent school, young girls learned skills they needed as future mothers and educators. Ottersweier was long part of the Bühl district and, after its dissolution in 1973, became part of the Rastatt district. Bernhard Friedmann
Bernhard Friedmann (8 April 1932 – 18 May 2021) was a German economist and politician of the Christian Democratic Union of Germany. Friedmann was born in Ottersweier. He served as Member of Parliament (the Bundestag) from 1976 to 1990 and as member (1990–2001) and President (1996–1999) of the European Court of Auditors. He was also President of Studienzentrum Weikersheim (2005–2008). Achern
Achern (; ) is a city in Western Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is located approximately 18 km southwest of Baden-Baden and 19 km northeast of Offenburg. Achern is the fourth largest town in the district of Ortenau (Ortenaukreis), after Offenburg, Lahr / Black Forest and Kehl. As subsequent to the district reform in the 1970s the population passed the 20,000 mark, Achern requested to be awarded the status of '' Große Kreisstadt''. The status was granted by the State government effective January 1, 1974. Achern collaborates with the communities of Lauf, Sasbach, and Sasbachwalden in administrative matters. Rastatt (district)
Rastatt is a ''Landkreis'' (district) in the west of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Neighbouring districts are (from north clockwise) Karlsruhe, Calw, Freudenstadt and the Ortenaukreis. To the west it borders the French '' département'' Bas-Rhin. Rastatt completely surrounds the district-free city Baden-Baden. History The district was created in 1939 as the successor of the ''Oberamt Rastatt'' and later the ''Großkreis Baden''. In 1973 it was merged with the majority of the neighboring district Bühl, and some small parts of the district Kehl. Geography The district is located in the Rhine valley. Krauschwitz (, ) is a municipality in the Görlitz district of Saxony, Germany at the border with Poland. It is situated on the western banks of the Lusatian Neisse river, south of Bad Muskau. The municipality was established on 1 January 1994 by the merger of the villages Klein Priebus, Krauschwitz, Pechern, Podrosche, Sagar, Skerbersdorf, and Werdeck. Rastatt () is a town with a Baroque core, District of Rastatt, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is located in the Upper Rhine Plain on the Murg river, above its junction with the Rhine and has a population of around 51,000 (2022).
