A conservation authority is a local, community-based natural resource management agency based in Ontario, Canada. Conservation authorities represent groupings of municipalities on a drainage basin, watershed basis and work in partnership with other agencies to carry out natural resource management activities within their respective watersheds, on behalf of their member municipalities and the Province of Ontario. The 1946 ''Conservation Authorities Act'' provides the means by which municipalities within a common Drainage basin, watershed can petition the Province of Ontario to form a conservation authority for that watershed to undertake programs of natural resource management. Jackson Creek is a creek in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. It is part of the Great Lakes Basin, and flows to its mouth at Little Lake as a right tributary of the Otonabee River. The Otonabee flows via the Trent River to Lake Ontario. In 1963 the Otonabee Region Conservation Authority received a grant for construction of a dam on Jackson Creek. Otonabee River
The Otonabee River is a river in Peterborough County in Central Ontario, Canada. The river flows from Katchewanooka Lake, at the north end of the community of Lakefield, through the city of Peterborough to Rice Lake. It is in the Great Lakes Basin and forms part of the Trent-Severn Waterway. Etymology The river is called ''Odoonabii-ziibi'' in the Ojibwe language. Otonabee comes from the words ''ode'' which means "heart" and ''odemgat'' that comes from "boiling water". It translates into "the river that beats like a heart in reference to the bubbling and boiling water of the rapids along the river". Course The river begins at Katchewanooka Lake on the north side of the community of Lakefield in the municipality of Selwyn, and flows south over the Lakefield (Trent-Severn lock 6) dams and locks. The Municipality of Trent Hills is a township municipality in Northumberland County in Central Ontario, Canada. It is on the Trent River and was created in 2001 through the amalgamation of the municipalities of Campbellford/Seymour, Percy Township and Hastings. The City of Kawartha Lakes (2021 population 79,247) is a unitary municipality in Central Ontario, Canada.
