Aleksander Ostrowski (skier)
Aleksander "Olek" Ostrowski (11 January 1988 – disappeared 25 July 2015) was a Polish skier and mountaineer. Early life and education Ostrowski was born and grew up in Wetlina in the Bieszczady Mountains. He began skiing at age 3 and soon started to take part in FIS competitions. In 2004, he won the Open Podkarpacie Amateur Alpine Skiing Championships in carving and giant slalom. He then went to represent his region Subcarpathian Voivodeship in the Polish junior championships. In 2007, he graduated high school in Ustrzyki Dolne and went on to university studies in geography at Jagiellonian University in Kraków. Alongside his studies, he remained dedicated to the mountains. At university, he became a member of the Alpine club. In 2007, he became a certified mountain rescuer with Poland's prestigious Mountain Volunteer Search and Rescue based in Sanok. Cezary Ostrowski
Cezary Maciej Ostrowski (born 30 September 1962) is a Polish composer, musician, songwriter, author, visual artist and journalist. Ostrowske was born in Brzeg, Lower Silesia. He is best known for his work as a leader of the critically acclaimed New wave music, new wave band Bexa Lala, established in 1983 in music, 1983. Before that, he had fronted the groups: Taz and Leo Patett in the early 1980s, bands renowned for their rough, and violent sound influenced by free jazz, electronica, and post-punk. In 2001, he formed the jazz duo Trzaska & Ostrowski that released the album Blades. In 2003 his another duo Swietlicki & Ostrowski released the album Crawl. Alexander Ostrowski
Alexander Markowich Ostrowski (; ; 25 September 1893 – 20 November 1986) was a mathematician. Biography His father Mark having been a merchant, Alexander Ostrowski attended the Kiev College of Commerce, not a high school, and thus had an insufficient qualification to be admitted to university. However, his talent did not remain undetected: Ostrowski's mentor, Dmitry Grave, wrote to Edmund Landau and Kurt Hensel for help. Subsequently, Ostrowski began to study mathematics at Marburg University under Hensel's supervision in 1912. During World War I he was interned, but thanks to the intervention of Hensel, the restrictions on his movements were eased somewhat, and he was allowed to use the university library. Otto Ostrowski
Otto Ostrowski (28 January 1883 in Spremberg – 16 June 1963 in Knokke, Belgium) was a German politician of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) and Mayor of Berlin in 1946–1947. Ostrowski graduated in Romance studies and after World War I joined the SPD. From 1922 he served as mayor of Finsterwalde until he was elected mayor of the Berlin borough of Prenzlauer Berg in 1926. He held this office up to the Nazi seizure of power in 1933, when he was forced to resign. A fierce opponent of the Nazis, he helped hiding Jewish persecutees to protect them from deportation to the extermination camps. After World War II he was appointed mayor of Berlin-Wilmersdorf in 1946.
