Osees is an American rock music, rock band formed in San Francisco, California in 1997, now based in Los Angeles, California. Originally the solo recording project of John Dwyer (musician), John Dwyer, the band has evolved through numerous line-up and name changes since its founding, with Dwyer serving as the band leader and primary songwriter throughout. Alongside Dwyer, the band's current line-up includes longtime members, Tim Hellman (bass), Butch Sunset (bongos), Paul Quattrone (drums) and Tomas Dolas (keyboards). The group's sound draws from a wide variety of influences, including garage rock, krautrock, psychedelic music, psychedelia, and folk music. Osees are noted for their prolific recording output, energetic live shows, and whimsical visual aesthetic. John Dwyer (musician)
John Dwyer is an American multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, songwriter, visual artist, and record label owner. He is best known as the founding member and primary songwriter of the garage rock band Osees, with whom he has released 28 studio albums. In addition to his work with Osees, Dwyer records solo material under the name "Damaged Bug". From 2020-2021, Dwyer released several improvisation-based records with a rotating collective of different artists, including "Bent Arcana", "Witch Egg", "Endless Garbage", "Moon Drenched" and "Gong Splat". He is also a former member of the garage rock acts Coachwhips, Pink and Brown and The Hospitals. Dwyer is currently based in Los Angeles, California, although for much of his career he was based in San Francisco, California. ''An Odd Entrances'' is the eighteenth studio album by the American garage rock band Thee Oh Sees, released on 18 November 2016 by Castle Face Records. The album was recorded during the same sessions as the band's previous album, ''A Weird Exits'', released three months previously. The album is the band's last with the drummer Ryan Moutinho, who left the band two days before its release, and is also their last album released under the name Thee Oh Sees. Critical reception In a positive review for ''AllMusic'', Tim Sendra praised both the album and the band's overall 2016 output. It is the first studio album to feature drummers Ryan Moutinho and Dan Rincon, who joined the band in 2015 to tour in support of the band's previous album, '' Mutilator Defeated at Last''. The album is the band's eighth to be released under the name Thee Oh Sees, and their fourteenth studio album overall. ''Carrion Crawler/The Dream'' is the twelfth studio album by San Francisco-based garage rock band Thee Oh Sees. It was released on November 8, 2011, by In the Red Records. Despite the running time of the album being comparable or greater than most of their other full-length releases, the vinyl editions state that it is an EP. Background Petey Dammit, the band's bassist, claimed that the album "was completely recorded live. 1, 2, 3, press record, go." Brigid Dawson stated that it was recorded over a five-day period. Krautrock
Krautrock (also called , German for ) is a broad genre of experimental rock that developed in Germany in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Union Transfer is a music venue in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Located at 1026 Spring Garden Street in the Callowhill neighborhood, it opened on September 21, 2011, as a joint venture between The Bowery Presents, a New York City production company now owned by AEG Live; and R5 Productions, an independent Philadelphia production company. History Its 1889 building retains signage for its original tenant, the Spring Garden Farmer's Market. In the Red Records is an independent record label in Los Angeles, California, formed in 1991 by Larry Hardy. It is known for hosting garage rock related bands. The label's first release was by The Morlocks, and its second release was Kings of Rock. Hardy has publicly stated that he wished he would have waited for Mick Collins' The Gories material to be finished for the first release. However the Gories recording was slow going and Larry became impatient, rushing the two initial releases into production.
