Oscar Parish
Oscar Parish ( sv, Oscars församling) is a parish in Östermalm's church district (''kontrakt'') in the Diocese of Stockholm, Sweden. The parish is located in Stockholm Municipality in Stockholm County. The parish forms its own pastorship. History Oscar Parish was formed on 1 May 1906 by a break from Hedvig Eleonora Parish and has since formed its own pastorship. The name was Oskar until 1962 when it was changed to Oscar. Oscar's Church
Oscar's Church ( sv, Oscarskyrkan) is one of the major churches in Stockholm, Sweden. The three-aisled hall church, which holds 1,200 people, has an tower in the south-western part of the building. Oscar's Church is located in the south-eastern part of Östermalm, where Storgatan and Narvavägen meet, near the Swedish History Museum. Narvavägen is together with the nearby Strandvägen—from which the church is also visible—one of the city's main boulevards, lined with several residential palaces. History The church was inaugurated in September 1903 as the result of a design competition nine years earlier. The competition was won by Gustaf Hermansson, who also designed the Sofia Church. It was King Oscar II himself, after whom the church is named, who laid the foundation stone in 1897. Gärdet
Gärdet is a part of Stockholm, east and northeast of Östermalm. Its official name is Ladugårdsgärdet. It is renowned for its large number of modernist apartments. Gärdet is one of the largest residential districts built in Stockholm during the 1930s, built from 1929 until around 1950, and houses about 10,000 people. The district includes a vast open space used for recreational purposes; the name Gärdet ("the field") often refers to this area specifically. Zeuthen is a municipality in the district of Dahme-Spreewald in Brandenburg in Germany. The Swedish Tax Agency ( sv, Skatteverket) is a government agency in Sweden responsible for national tax collection and administering the population registration. The agency was formed on 1 January 2004 through the merger of the Swedish National Tax Board (''Riksskatteverket'') and the then 10 existing regional tax authorities (''skattemyndigheter''). Hedvig Eleonora Parish ( sv, Hedvig Eleonora församling) is a parish in Östermalm's church district (''kontrakt'') in the Diocese of Stockholm, Sweden. The parish is located in Stockholm Municipality in Stockholm County. The parish forms its own pastorship. History The parish was formed on 17 April 1672, by an outbreak from the Holmkyrkan Parish (''Holmkyrkans församling''). Until 1737, the parish was also called the Ladugårdsland Parish (''Ladugårdslands församling'') and has also been called the Östermalm Parish (''Östermalms församling''). In 1724 and 1749, the ''Borgerskapets änkhus församling'' and ''Hedvig Eleonora fattighus församling'' broke out, respectively. In 1819, the ''Djurgårdens landsförsamling'' broke out, but returned in 1868. On 1 May 1906, Engelbrekt Parish and Oscar Parish were broken out. Östermalm
Östermalm (; "Eastern city-borough") is a 2.56 km2 large district in central Stockholm, Sweden. With 71,802 inhabitants, it is one of the most populous districts in Stockholm. It is an extremely expensive area, having the highest housing prices in Sweden. History During the reign of the ruler of all of Scandinavia, king Eric of Pomerania in the early 15th century, a royal cowshed/barn was erected on the lands of the village Vädla. Since the town of Stockholm had grown and started to encroach on the borders of that village, there were many complaints about animals causing damage in the town. Parishes Of The Church Of Sweden
The Parishes of the Church of Sweden ( sv, Svenska kyrkans församlingar) are subdivisions within the Church of Sweden that historically were called ''socken'' but nowadays are called ''församling''. Similar units were used for municipal (''landskommun'') and cadastral purposes (''jordebokssocknar'' or ''jordregistersocknar'') until the 20th century.
