Alice Josephine Orr-Ewing (born 7 July 1989) is a British actress who starred in the 2012 British film '' The Scapegoat'', an adaptation of the 1957 novel of the same name by Daphne du Maurier. Early life Orr-Ewing was born in Hammersmith, London, the third child of the Hon. Andrew John Orr-Ewing (born 1965) is a British chemist and Professor of physical chemistry at the University of Bristol. His work investigates the mechanisms of chemical reaction in both the gas and liquid phases and has used ultrafast laser spectroscopy to observe the effects of solvents on molecular reaction and the dynamics of photodissociation. Education Orr-Ewing was educated at Dr Challoner's Grammar School and Jesus College, Oxford. He was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree by the University of Oxford in 1988. Sir Archibald Orr-Ewing, 1st Baronet (4 January 1818 – 28 November 1893) was a Scottish Conservative Party politician. The Orr Ewing Baronetcy, of Ballikinrain in the County of Stirling and of Lennoxbank in the County of Dunbarton, was created in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom on 8 March 1886 for the Conservative politician Archibald Orr-Ewing. He was the seventh son of William Ewing, a merchant of Glasgow, and Susan, daughter of John Orr, Provost of Paisley. Charles Lindsay Orr-Ewing (8 September 1860 – 24 December 1903) was a Scottish Tory politician. The youngest son of Sir Archibald Orr-Ewing and Elizabeth Lindsay Reid; he was educated at Harrow School. Ian Leslie Orr-Ewing
Sir Ian Leslie Orr-Ewing (4 June 1893 – 27 April 1958) was a British Conservative Party politician. Orr-Ewing was born in Ayr, Scotland, the son of Charles Orr-Ewing, Member of Parliament (MP) for Ayr Burghs. He contested Gateshead in 1929. He was elected as Member of Parliament (MP) for Weston-super-Mare in the 1934 by-election after the resignation of Lord Erskine. He served as an MP until his death in April 1958, aged 64.
