Orocovis (from Taíno language, Taino language, Orocobix popularly thought to mean "''remembrance of the first mountain''") is a Orocovis barrio-pueblo, town and Municipalities of Puerto Rico, municipality of Puerto Rico located in the Cordillera Central, Puerto Rico, Central Mountain Range, north of Villalba, Puerto Rico, Villalba and Coamo, Puerto Rico, Coamo; south of Morovis, Puerto Rico, Morovis and Corozal, Puerto Rico, Corozal; southeast of Ciales, Puerto Rico, Ciales; east of Jayuya, Puerto Rico, Jayuya; and west of Barranquitas, Puerto Rico, Barranquitas. Orocovis is spread over 17 barrios and Orocovis barrio-pueblo, Orocovis Pueblo (the downtown area and the administrative center of the city). Orocovis Barrio-pueblo
Orocovis barrio-pueblo is a barrio and the administrative center (seat) of Orocovis, a municipality of Puerto Rico. Its population in 2010 was 682. As was customary in Spain, in Puerto Rico, the municipality has a barrio called '' pueblo'' which contains a central plaza, the municipal buildings (city hall), and a Catholic church. Fiestas patronales (patron saint festivals) are held in the central plaza every year.
