Hora, also known as horo and oro, is a type of circle dance traditionally performed in Southeast Europe. Circle dances with similar names are found in Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova, North Macedonia, Greece and Turkey culturally adopted by ethnic minorities such as the Ashkenazi Jews (Yiddish: האָרע ''hore''), Sephardic Jews (Ladino: הורו ''horo'') and the Roma. Etymology The name, spelled differently in various countries, is derived from the Greek ('' khorós''): "dance", which is cognate with the Ancient Greek art form of ('' khoreía''). Orø
Orø is a small List of islands of Denmark, island in Denmark located in the Isefjord within Holbæk Municipality. The island covers and has a population of 995 (). There are four villages on Orø: Bybjerg, the largest village on the island with a population of 276 (1 January 2024), Brønde, Gamløse and Næsby. There is a ferry connection between Orø and Holbæk, and a cable ferry connects the island to Hammer Bakke (''Hammer Hill'') on the Hornsherred peninsula. Oro-Medonte is a township in south-central Ontario, Canada, on the northwestern shores of Lake Simcoe in Simcoe County. The Oro African Methodist Episcopal Church School was a rural segregated Black school established in 1849 in Oro-Medonte, Ontario, alongside the Oro African Methodist Episcopal Church. The school served the children of African Canadian settlers who had been granted land in the Oro settlement by the British colonial government. Operated in tandem with the church, it provided basic literacy and religious education in a log structure built by the community itself. As one of the few early schools for Black students in rural Upper Canada, it reflects the intersection of race, land access, and education in early 19th-century Ontario. Oro Moraine
The Oro Moraine is a glacial moraine in Simcoe County, Ontario, Canada. The moraine covers north of Barrie, Ontario. The moraine drains into Georgian Bay on Lake Huron, and the smaller Lake Simcoe. Water transporting layers within the moraine, composed of sand and gravel, are separated by relatively impervious aquitard layers composed of or silt or clay. Efforts are being made to preserve undeveloped land on the moraine, and to encourage land owners to leave their property as a legacy to the regional conservation authorities in their wills.
