Ormus
The Kingdom of Ormus (also known as Hormoz or Hormuz; ; ) was located in the eastern side of the Persian Gulf and extended as far as Bahrain in the west at its zenith. The Kingdom was established in the 11th century initially as a dependency of the Kerman Seljuk Sultanate, and later as an autonomous tributary of the Salghurid Turkmens and the Ilkhanates. In its last phase Ormus became a client state of the Portuguese Empire in the East. Most of its territory was eventually annexed by the Safavid Empire in the 17th century. It bordered Laristan, with whom it was regularly at odds. The island was a major economic base of economic exchanges and marine trade as an important port between the Persian Gulf and the Indian Ocean. Hormuz Island (; ), also spelled Hormoz, Ormoz, Ormuz or Ormus, is an Iranian island in the Persian Gulf. Geography Hormuz Island has an area of . Located in the Strait of Hormuz, off the Iranian coast, the island is part of Hormozgan Province. It is sparsely inhabited, but some development has taken place since the late 20th century. Geology Reddish ochre on the island and its beaches, called Golak by natives, has been exploited for artistic and culinary purposes, and also attracts tourists. Hormuz, Iran
Hormuz () is a city in, and the capital of, Hormuz District of Bandar Abbas County, Hormozgan province, Iran. Demographics Population At the time of the 2006 National Census, the city's population was 5,699 in 1,143 households, when it was in Qeshm County. The following census in 2011 counted 5,867 people in 1,345 households. The 2016 census measured the population of the city as 5,891 people in 1,698 households. The district was transferred to Bandar Abbas County in 2019. The name of the Strait of Hormuz is taken from this island. Miladian Dynasty
The Miladian dynasty was a local Persian ( Laristani) Sunni Muslim dynasty that ruled Laristan during the Medieval Ages. It traced its origins to ''Gorgin Milad'', a descendant of the cycle of the legendary Kayanid Kay Khosrow. It encompassed much of Laristan and the Garmsirat. The final stop under Hormuzi administration on the caravan route from Hormuz to Laristan was the village of Kawrestan. The two kingdoms neighboured.
