Ormeignies
Ormeignies is a village of Wallonia and district of the municipality of Ath, located in the province of Hainaut, Belgium. It has an ancient history. Farmers in Neolithic time were settled there, as far back as 4000 BC. The village church, dedicated to Saint Ursmer and built from stone and brick c.1780, is a good example of neo-classical architecture. The farm of the Grande Rosière The Rosiere seigniory belonged to Cambron-Casteau abbey that possessed more than one square kilometres of the village area. The farm of the Grande Rosière was run by monks until the 18th century. Sold as a national asset in 1798 during the French Revolution, it became the property of the prince of Ligne. Saint Ursmer
Ursmar of Lobbes (died 713) was a missionary bishop in the Meuse and Ardennes region in present-day Belgium, Germany, Luxemburg and France. He was also the first abbot of Lobbes Abbey. As many missionaries in the 7th and 8th century, he may have been of Irish origin. He was appointed abbot of Lobbes in 691 by the Frankish king Pippin II. He is also credited with the foundation of Aulne Abbey and Wallers Abbey. Saint Ursmar is a Catholic saint, whose feast day is April 19. His sarcophagus is in the crypt of the parish church in Lobbes (as well as the sarcophagus of his successor, Saint Ermin. Louis XIII Style
The Louis XIII style or ''Louis Treize'' was a fashion in French art and architecture, especially affecting the visual and decorative arts. Its distinctness as a period in the history of French art has much to do with the Regent, regency under which Louis XIII began his reign (1610–1643). His mother and regent, Marie de' Medici, imported Mannerism from her homeland of Italy and the influence of Italian art was to be strongly felt for several decades. Louis XIII-style painting was influenced from the north, through Flemish and Dutch Baroque, and from the south, through Italian mannerism and early Baroque. Schools developed around Caravaggio and Peter Paul Rubens. Among the French painters who blended Italian mannerism with a love of genre scenes were Georges de La Tour, Simon Vouet, and the Le Nain brothers.
