Orlat
Orlat (; ) is a commune in Sibiu County, Transylvania, Romania, west of the county capital, Sibiu, in the Mărginimea Sibiului ethnographic area. It is composed of a single village, Orlat. The commune lies in the foothills of the Cindrel Mountains, on the banks of the river Cibin and its affluents, the rivers Săliște and Orlat. Orlat is one of the oldest villages in the Mărginimea Sibiului. The (established by an Imperial decree signed by Maria Theresa of Austria on April 15, 1762) was located here. The regiment's mission was to guard the southern sector of the Transylvanian Military Frontier. The A1 Motorway passes just north of the commune. Transylvanian Military Frontier
The Transylvanian Military Frontier (; ; ) was a territory in the Habsburg monarchy. It was a section of the Habsburg Military Frontier. History It was founded in 1762 from territories that had been part of the Habsburg Principality of Transylvania. After it was abolished, the territory of the Transylvanian Military Frontier was reincorporated into the principality. Cibin
The Cibin (; ) is a river in central Romania, in the south part of Transylvania. Its source is close to the highest peak in the Cindrel Mountains (known also as Cibin Mountains) of the Southern Carpathian Mountains. Upstream from its confluence with the Râul Mic, the river is also called the ''Râul Mare''. The river flows entirely in Sibiu County.
