Hebrew (; ''ʿÎbrit'') is a Northwest Semitic language within the Afroasiatic language family. A regional dialect of the Canaanite languages, it was natively spoken by the Israelites and remained in regular use as a first language until after 200 CE and as the liturgical language of Judaism (since the Second Temple period) and Samaritanism. The language was revived as a spoken language in the 19th century, and is the only successful large-scale example of linguistic revival. It is the only Canaanite language, as well as one of only two Northwest Semitic languages, with the other being Aramaic, still spoken today. The earliest examples of written Paleo-Hebrew date back to the 10th century BCE. Orit Gadiesh (; born January 31, 1951) is an Israeli-American corporate strategist and Chairman of management consulting firm Bain & Company since 1993. Biography Gadiesh was born Orit Grunfeld in Haifa, Israel, in 1951, to a Berlin-born Israel Defense Forces Colonel Falk Gadiesh (né Grunfeld) and his Ukrainian-born wife Pninah, a nurse. Her family changed the surname ''Grunfeld'' to its Hebrew equivalent ''Gadiesh'' after requested by David Ben-Gurion. She completed her compulsory IDF service in the office of the Deputy Chief of Staff Ezer Weizman. She then studied at Hebrew University of Jerusalem, graduating in 1975 with a bachelor's degree in psychology. Gadiesh graduated from Harvard Business School in 1977 in the top 5 percent of her class (Baker Scholar) and was awarded the Brown prize for the most outstanding marketing student. Orit Noked
Orit Noked (; born 25 October 1952) is an Israeli politician who served as a member of the Knesset for Independence and the Labor Party and as Minister of Agriculture. Biography Born in Jerusalem in 1952, Noked studied law at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She became a legal advisor to the Kibbutz Movement in 1986, a job she held until 1992. Between 1996 and 2002 she served as director of the movement's legal department. She has also been a member of the Jewish National Fund's directorate, the Agricultural Association's secretariat, the National Council for Environmental Quality and the board of the Israel Lands Authority. In the 1999 elections Noked stood as a Labour candidate within the One Israel list. Orit Strook
Orit Malka Strook (; born 15 March 1960) is a far-right, religious-conservative Israeli politician. She serves as the Minister of Settlements and National Missions in the thirty-seventh government, and is a member of the Knesset for the National Religious Party–Religious Zionism. She served as member of the Knesset for Tkuma (a faction within the Jewish Home) between 2013 and 2015. Strook is also among the leaders of the Jewish settlement in Hebron, and she established the Israeli non-governmental organization Human Rights Organization of Judea and Samaria, which she headed between 2004 and 2012. Orit Wolf (; born 8 October 1974 in Tel Aviv) is an Israeli pianist, composer, poet and lecturer. Currently holds a lecturer position at Reichman University (Arison School for Business Management), Israel. From the 2022 to 2023 academic year, Wolf has been Artist in Residence at the Technion where she also teaches at the Humanities and Arts Department and at the MBA program. Brigadier General (ret.) Orit Adato (; born 1955, birth name: Orit Eliaz) is a former Israeli military commander and Israel Prison Service Commissioner. She was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in 1973. Following her mandatory service, she left the army and reenlisted in 1978.
