Original Signal Recordings is an American independent record label based in New York City. Original Signal is owned and operated by Music Nation, distributed by Universal Motown Republic Group, and is a member of the American Association of Independent Music. Original Signal was founded in 2007 by CEO Daniel Klaus and President Lucas Mann. Mann was named to ''Billboard'' magazine's fourth annual "30 Under 30" Power Players list. Original Signal participates in full-service record deals with Athlete, The Bronx, David Ford, Kill Hannah, Longwave, The Modern Society, The Sounds, Lane Turner, and Butch Walker. Original Signal acts as the distribution and marketing arm for Ingrid Michaelson and her Cabin 24 Records. Universal Motown Republic Group
Universal Motown Republic Group (UMRG) was an umbrella label founded in 1999 by Universal Music Group to oversee the labels assigned to its unit. UMRG was formed in 1999 by pooling together Universal Records, Motown Records, and Republic Records, (the first of the three is now defunct), but which gave way to the current incarnations of those labels at the time, Universal Motown Records and Universal Republic Records. The Sounds
The Sounds are a Swedish indie rock band. Formed in Helsingborg in 1998, the group's musical style has been compared to new wave acts such as Blondie, The Cars, the Epoxies and Missing Persons. Their debut album, '' Living in America'', was released in 2002, with the follow-up '' Dying to Say This to You'' in 2006. Their third album, '' Crossing the Rubicon'', was released in 2009, and their fourth, '' Something to Die For'', was released in 2011. Their fifth album, ''Weekend'', was released in 2013. Vega4
Vega4 was a four-piece alternative rock band formed in London consisted of Johnny McDaid (lead vocalist and songwriter), Bruce Gainsford (guitar), Gavin Fox (bassist) and Bryan McLellan (drummer). McDaid is from Northern Ireland and Fox is from Republic of Ireland, McLellan is from Canada and Gainsford is from New Zealand. Blanche (band)
Blanche is an American alternative country band from Detroit, Michigan. Their music is based in Americana, early country, and folk blues, with a touch of haunting Southern Gothic stylings and garage rock mentality. Blanche is known for wearing vintage fashion of the early to mid-20th century. The origins of Blanche can be traced back to the early '90s band Goober & the Peas. Led by Dan "Goober" Miller, the band was devoted to cowpunk, and dressed in honky-tonk attire. After the break-up of Goober & The Peas, three of the band's members—Dan Miller, Jack White, and Damian Lang—formed the garage rock band Two-Star Tabernacle with Miller's wife Tracee Mae Miller. Bad Lieutenant ( ) was an English alternative rock band formed following the second breakup of New Order. The band consisted of former New Order members Bernard SumnerThe ''Never Cry Another Tear'' album liner notes explicitly state, "Bad Lieutenant are Phil Cunningham, Jake Evans, Bernard Sumner" and Phil Cunningham as well as Rambo & Leroy's Jake Evans. Bradley Glenn "Butch" Walker (born November 14, 1969) is an American singer-songwriter, musician, and record producer. He was the lead guitarist for the glam metal band SouthGang from the late 1980s to early 1990s as well as the lead vocalist and guitarist for rock band Marvelous 3 from 1997 until 2001. Michael Lane Turner (born February 3, 1967, in Monahans, Texas) is an American singer-songwriter. Signed to Warner Bros. Records since 2004, he released two singles for the label, including "Always Wanting More (Breathless)", which reached No. 56 on the Hot Country Songs charts in 2004. Lane signed with Original Signal Recordings in 2009. Early life Turner was born in Monahans, Texas, and attended school in Levelland, which he described as "a place so flat you can watch your dog run away for two days". Longwave (band)
Longwave is an American indie rock band. The band was formed in 1999 by guitarist, songwriter and vocalist Steve Schiltz; guitarist Shannon Ferguson; bassist David Marchese; and drummer Jeremy Greene. The band was active from 1999 to 2008. As of 2018 the band had reformed and was recording new music. Longwave's fifth album ‘’If We Ever Live Forever’’ was released October 25, 2019. An independent record label (or indie label) is a record label that operates without the funding or distribution of major record labels; they are a type of small- to medium-sized enterprise, or SME. Kill Hannah was an American rock band formed in 1993 in Chicago, Illinois. The band released six studio albums, seven EPs, and two compilation albums as well as three DVDs. History Kill Hannah was formed by singer-songwriter Mat Devine in 1993. The band is named after Devine's ex-girlfriend. At the time, Devine was singing and playing guitar in a band called In a Jar UK. After the fallout with Hannah, Devine printed up stickers to place on In a Jar UK 7" records bearing the name "Kill Hannah." David James Ford (born 16 May 1978 in Dartford, Kent) is an English singer-songwriter, guitarist and songwriter. He first achieved prominence with the indie rock group Easyworld, who released an independent mini-album, ''...Better Ways to Self Destruct'' and two full-length albums on Jive Records before disbanding in 2004.
