"Orgasm Addict'" is a song by the English punk rock band Buzzcocks. It was the A-side of the Buzzcocks' first single, with "Whatever Happened To...?" as the B-side, which was released on 4 November 1977 by record label United Artists. Cover image The sleeve was devised by graphic designer Malcolm Garrett and featured a collage, created by Linder Sterling, depicting a woman whose head is a clothes iron. Regarding the concept, Sterling explained: "Well, the iron came from an Argos catalogue and the female torso came from a photographic magazine called ''Photo''. I never cleared the copyright but no one noticed, so it was alright." Sterling later added "It was made in a Salford bedroom; I had a sheet of glass, a scalpel and piles of women's mags." The image was originally in colour but Garrett thought it would be best to change it to a blue monotone, for the record company specified the sleeve could be printed in only two colours. Buzzcocks are an English punk rock band formed in Bolton, England in 1976 by singer-songwriter-guitarist Pete Shelley and singer-songwriter Howard Devoto. History and profile ''Photo'' was started by Hachette Filipacchi Médias as a monthly publication in 1967, and it was modeled on the men's magazine ''American Photo''. ''Another Music in a Different Kitchen'' is the first studio album by the English punk rock band Buzzcocks. It was released in March 1978 by the United Artists record label. This was the third line-up of Buzzcocks, with the guitarist Pete Shelley singing following the departure of the original vocalist Howard Devoto and then the firing of the bass guitarist Garth Smith (who had appeared on the " Orgasm Addict"/"Whatever Happened To...?" single). The album includes the single " I Don't Mind", which reached number 55 in the UK Singles Chart in May 1978. Album title The album's title was inspired by a collage by Linder Sterling. ''Singles Going Steady'' is a compilation album by English punk rock band Buzzcocks, first released on I.R.S. Records in the United States on 25 September 1979. Background ''Singles Going Steady'' was the first Buzzcocks album to be released in North America and intended as an introduction to the band for the American public, coinciding with a tour of the US. Side one of the original release of the album featured their eight UK single releases on United Artists Records from 1977 up to the time of ''Singles Going Steady'''s release in 1979 in chronological order, while side two featured their corresponding B-sides, also in chronological order. After healthy sales on import in the UK over the next two years, and following the group's split in early 1981, the album was belatedly released in the band's home country on United Artists Records on 16 November 1981 as a 'greatest hits' album. Steve Diggle
Stephen E Diggle (born 7 May 1955) is an English guitarist and vocalist in the punk band Buzzcocks. Biography Early years Diggle was born on 7 May 1955 at Saint Mary's Hospital in Manchester, and grew up in the Bradford and Rusholme areas of the city, where he was a mod. After attending Oldham College, he got a job, but was dismissed for organising a strike. Buzzcocks He attended the Sex Pistols gig at Manchester's Lesser Free Trade Hall, in June 1976. Their manager Malcolm McLaren introduced him to guitarist Pete Shelley and vocalist Howard Devoto, who were looking for a bassist for their band, Buzzcocks. Garth Smith
Garth Smith (born Garth Davies, 10 December 1955) and sometimes credited as Garth, was known for being one of the bassists of the Bolton formed punk rock band, Buzzcocks. Biography Garth was born in the Lancashire town of Tyldesley on Saturday 10 December 1955. He was named after the village of Garth in mid Wales, near to the town of Builth Wells where his mother was born and raised. Smith was the original bassist of the band, playing in their first show in the Bolton Institute of Technology, where the other founders of the band, guitarist Pete Shelley and vocalist Howard Devoto, were students, on 1 April 1976. He rejoined the band after Devoto left and Shelley took the lead vocalist role, around March 1977, when the band played gigs again.
