Orenburg Airlines or JSC Orenair () was a Russian airline with its head office on the property of Orenburg Tsentralny Airport in Orenburg. It operated domestic passenger services and inclusive tour charters, as well as aerial work and special flights. Its main base was Orenburg Tsentralny Airport and it had hubs at Domodedovo and Simferopol International Airport. History The airline was formed from the Aeroflot Orenburg Division, which was established in 1932. In 1992, it began to operate under the name ''Orenair''. It was the first Russian domestic airline to introduce the hub system of connecting flights in Orenburg, providing a full service for transfer passengers, and was the first Russian domestic airline to introduce through air fares. Orenburg Tsentralny Airport
Orenburg Airport () is a civil airport located about 25 km east of Orenburg city. Now defunct Orenair had its head office on the airport property. The airport was built at its present location in the mid-1970s. In 2011, the government of Orenburg named the airport after Yuri Gagarin. Former Aeroflot Divisions
Babyflot is the informal name given to any airline in the former Soviet Union created in the early 1990s from the dissolution of Aeroflot as part of the breakup of the Soviet Union. The word is a portmanteau of ''baby'' and ''Aeroflot'' (compare Baby Bells). There were between 300 and 800 Babyflots, with many being single-plane operations, while international routes were operated separately as Aeroflot—Russian International Airlines (ARIA). By 1994, many Babyflots were bankrupt, hampered by a lack of capital and a poor economy, which in turn led to abysmal safety records. These safety issues had become so endemic to the "Babyflot" airlines that in 1994 the International Air Transport Association took the unusual step of recommending trains for people traveling the former Soviet Union, as it was considered the least life-threatening form of conveyance. Orenburg (, ), formerly known as Chkalov (1938–1957), is the administrative center of Orenburg Oblast, Russia. It lies in Eastern Europe, along the banks of the Ural River, being approximately southeast of Moscow. Orenburg is close to the border with Kazakhstan.
