The Order of Otan ( Kazakh: ''Отан ордені'', trans. ''Otan ordeni'', ''Order of the Fatherland'') is one of the highest orders of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The order is usually awarded to citizens for the following, but there have been several notable non-citizen recipients. * Outstanding achievements in public and social activities * Development of economy, social sphere, science and culture * State, law enforcement and military service * Development of democracy and social progress A commemorative 50 tenge coin featuring the medallion of the award on the reverse side was issued in 2007. Toktar Aubakirov
Toktar Ongarbayuly Aubakirov ( (''Toqtar Oñğarbaiūly Äubäkırov''), , born on 27 July 1946) is a retired Kazakh Air Force officer and a former cosmonaut. He is the first person from Kazakhstan to go to space. Early life Toktar Aubakirov was born in Karkaraly District, Karaganda Region, Kazakh SSR, which is now Kazakhstan. After graduating from the 8th grade of a secondary school he started working as a metal turner at the Temirtau foundry, whilst attending an evening school. In 1965 he joined the Armavir Military Aviation Institute of the Anti-Air Defence Pilots. He served as a fighter pilot in the Soviet Air Force on the Far East borders of the USSR until his acceptance into the Fedotov Test Pilot School in 1975. Qairat Jarylqasynūly Ümbetov (, born 10 September 1977) is a Kazakh military officer who has served as Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the National Guard for Morale, Welfare and Rights Advocacy since 2022. Sholpan Isabekyzy Zhandarbekova (1 January 1922 - 14 September 2005) was a Kazakh actress and teacher. People's Artist of the USSR (1982). Early life and education Sholpan Zhandarbekova was born on January 1, 1922 (according to other sources, on January 2, 1923) in Milibulak village, now Karkaralyn district, Qarağandy Region, Karaganda region, Kazakhstan. Azerbaijan Madievich Mambetov (2 September 193217 November 2009) was a Soviet and Kazakh stage and screen director and educator. His awards include People's Hero of Kazakhstan (2000), People's Artist of the USSR (1976), and the USSR State Prize (1974). Biography Mambetov was born in the settlement of Savinka (or Pallasovka, according to other records), now part of Pallasovsky District, Volgrograd Region, on 2 September 1932. Mukhtar Aliyev
Mukhtar Aliyev (; February 2, 1933, Tyumen-Aryk station — January 12, 2015, Almaty) was a Soviet and Kazakh surgeon, Doctor of Medical Sciences (1974), founder of the Academy of Medical Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan (1995), and Hero of Kazakhstan (1995). Yuri Malenchenko
Yuri Ivanovich Malenchenko (; born December 22, 1961) is a retired Russian cosmonaut. Malenchenko became the first person to marry in space, on 10 August 2003, when he married Ekaterina Dmitrieva, who was in Texas, while he was over New Zealand, on the International Space Station.
