''Orchid – Eynaage Maa'' () is a 1982 Maldivian television film written and directed by Hussain Shihab. Produced by Television Maldives, the film stars Mohamed Rasheed, Nahidha Ali and Aminath Waheedha in pivotal roles. The film centers around a medically unfit young woman who, despite facing a manipulative suitor, embarks on a romantic relationship with a stage performer and vocalist. Television Maldives
Television Maldives (TVM) is the public service broadcasting TV channel of the Maldives. It was formed on 29 March 1978. History The station started broadcasting on 29 March 1978 to a very limited audience, 90 television sets around the capital Male. The station broadcast on VHF channel 7 with an ERP of 1KW. In 1994, a second channel, TVM Plus, started broadcasting, which relied upon subscriptions. By the 2000s, the Maldives had more than 60,000 television sets and TVM Plus was available in close to 2,000 households. Until the launch of DhiTV in 2008, TVM held a virtual monopoly on local television. During the monopoly, TVM was known for its lack of quality, frequent censorship of pirated foreign content and incoherences caused from such censorship practices, as well as its views in favour of Maumoon Abdul Gayoom. Mohamed Rasheed (actor)
Mohamed Rasheed (2 April 1964), professionally known as Dharaa Rasheed, is a Maldivian film actor, cinematographer, producer and director. Early life At the age of twelve, Rasheed along with his friends, Sodhiq and Kashima Ahmed Shakir, used to spend most of their times at his place, singing, playing table tennis and undertake Urdu classes. After completing his studies at Majeediyya School, Rasheed witnessed several cameras being carried to the recently developed broadcasting company, Television Maldives and decided to be a cameraman. During the time, him, along with other friends, Umar Zahir and guitarist Abdul Rauf used to perform music at small gatherings. At the age of seventeen, he applied to Television Maldives to work as a cameraman but his application was rejected due to no vacancy. Fathimath Rauf
Fathimath Rauf (7 October 1959) is a Maldivian singer. Early life and career Fathimath Rauf was born and raised in the "Masodi family" where several local artists emerged as prominent singers. At the age of thirteen, as insisted by her father, Rauf performed a song on the stage which caught the attention of the audience. Music directors realized her potential and roped in to sing for their projects which enabled her to "rise to fame" during her career beginning. While working at Dhivehi Raajjeyge Adu, she joined the local band "Olympians" and became a prominent face in their stage shows. With the inauguration of National Centre for the Arts, she joined the centre and served for the government till her retirement in August 2017.
