Orange Line - Karachi Metrobus
The Orange Line, also known as the Abdul Sattar Edhi Line, is a bus rapid transit line of the Karachi Metrobus in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. It is the smallest of the five Metrobus lines in the city. The expected daily ridership is estimated at 50,000. The route goes from Board Office to Gulshan-e-Zia (Orangi Town). It was inaugurated on 10 September 2022. History Originally named the Orange Line, construction began on 11 June 2016. Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah inaugurated the construction work, while Rs. 2 billion were earmarked by the Government of Sindh for the project's completion. National Engineering Services Pakistan served as the consultants, with principal engineer Rehan Zamin serving as the project manager. Bus rapid transit (BRT), also called a busway or transitway, is a bus-based public transport system designed to have much more capacity, reliability and other quality features than a conventional bus system. Typically, a BRT system includes roadways that are dedicated to buses, and gives priority to buses at intersections where buses may interact with other traffic; alongside design features to reduce delays caused by passengers boarding or leaving buses, or paying fares. Multan Metrobus
The Multan Metrobus is a bus rapid transit (BRT) system in Multan, Punjab, Pakistan. Construction work on the line began in May 2015, while operations commenced on 24 January 2017. It was the third BRT project in Pakistan, after the Lahore Metrobus and the Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metrobus. Design The Multan Metro route is long, with a elevated section. It has 21 bus stations, with 14 elevated stations and seven ground-level stations. The bus stations have been constructed with Multan's extreme hot and cold weather in mind. The Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metrobus is a bus rapid transit system operating in the Islamabad–Rawalpindi metropolitan area of Pakistan. It consists of four routes, namely the Red, Orange, Blue, and Green Lines. Green Line - Karachi Metrobus
The Green Line ( ur, ) is a bus rapid transit line of the Karachi Breeze metrobus system, operational since December 2021 in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. Its construction began in February 2016 on the orders of the then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Being stalled for years, it was then completed by the orders of Prime Minister Imran Khan. The busway is the first phase of the Karachi Metrobus network and has 22 stations (a station after every km). Abdul Sattar Edhi
Abdul Sattar Edhi ( ur, ; 28 February 1928 – 8 July 2016) was a Pakistani humanitarian, philanthropist and ascetic who founded the Edhi Foundation, which runs the world's largest volunteer ambulance network, along with various homeless shelters, animal shelters, rehabilitation centres, and orphanages across Pakistan. Following his death, his son Faisal Edhi took over as head of the Edhi Foundation. Edhi's charitable activities expanded greatly in 1957 when an Asian flu epidemic (originating in China) swept through Pakistan and the rest of the world. Donations allowed him to buy his first ambulance the same year. He later expanded his charity network with the help of his wife Bilquis Edhi.
