Operation Hamlet
Operation Hamlet was a multinational law enforcement investigation targeting a global network of pedophiles involved in the sexual molestation of children and the distribution of child pornography over the Internet. Led by the U.S. Customs Service in collaboration with the Danish National Police (DNP) and other international agencies, the operation resulted in the rescue of 45 children worldwide, including 37 in the United States, and the arrest of numerous suspects across multiple countries. Online child abuse is a unique form of child abuse also known as “Cyber Molestation” due to its virtual, distanced, and anonymous nature. Such abuse may not happen face-to-face, nor does it necessarily require physical contact. Operation Blue Orchid was a joint United States-Russian operation to dismantle an online child pornography ring, centering on the website ''Blue Orchid''. It began in May 2000, after an informant in a separate child pornography case came forward with information about the ''Blue Orchid'' site.
