Oonopidae
Oonopidae, also known as goblin spiders, is a family (biology), family of spiders consisting of over 1,600 described species in about 113 genus, genera worldwide, with total species diversity estimated at 2000 to 2500 species. The type genus of the family is ''Oonops'' Keyserling, 1835. Goblin spiders are generally tiny, measuring about 1 to 3 millimeters. Some have scute, scuta, hardened plates on their abdomens. Oonopids usually have six eyes, the anterior median eyes having been lost. However, four-eyed (''Opopaea viamao''), two-eyed (e.g. ''Coxapopha'', ''Diblemma'') and even completely eyeless species (e.g. ''Cousinea'', the cave-dwelling ''Blanioonops'') are also known. The family is permeated with unusual morphological traits, many of which are limited to males. Examples include heavily modified mouthparts (e.g. ''Coxapopha'', ''Xyccarph''), sternal pouches (sometimes alternatively called holsters; e.g. ''Grymeus'') and extensions of the carapace (e.g. ''Ferchestina'', ''Uni ...

Tapinesthis Inermis
''Tapinesthis'' is a Monotypic taxon, monotypic genus of spiders in the family Oonopidae, commonly known as goblin spiders. Its only species is ''Tapinesthis inermis'', the ivy parchment spider. Originally native to Europe, it has been introduced to North America. The spider inhabits a variety of Habitat, habitats, including Forest, forests, Dry grassland, dry grasslands, garrigue, and, as a Synanthrope, synanthropic species, human dwellings. Previously, it was thought to exhibit two seasonal forms, but research since 2014 has cast doubt on this hypothesis. Description The female reaches a body length of , with the Cephalothorax, prosoma (cephalothorax) measuring . The male is slightly smaller, with a body length of and a prosoma of . This species is a pale representative of the Oonopidae, goblin spiders with a soft body structure. Its most striking feature is the steeply sloping carapace (the dorsal shield of the prosoma), which bears a dark net-like pattern. The legs lack sp ...

Unicorn (spider)
''Unicorn ''("one horn", in Latin) is a genus of goblin spiders (family Oonopidae) from South America, containing seven species that occur predominantly in high elevation, semi-desert regions of Bolivia, Chile, and Argentina. Individuals are relatively large for goblin spiders, measuring up to 3.0 mm (0.12 in) in body length. The genus name refers to a characteristic pointed projection between the eyes and jaws of males. In at least one species, broken-off tips of the male pedipalps have been found within the genitalia of females, postulated as a means of sperm competition. ''Unicorn'' possesses several traits that suggest it is a relatively "basal (phylogenetics), primitive" member of the Oonopidae, and is classified with other similar, soft-bodied goblin spiders in the subfamily Sulsulinae. Description Species of ''Unicorn'' range from 2.2 to 3.0 mm in body length (from tip of the Spider anatomy#Cephalothorax, cephalothorax to end of abdomen, excluding legs). T ...

Bannana
''Bannana'' is a genus of goblin spiders (family Oonopidae) native to Xishuangbanna prefecture, Yunnan Province, China, where it lives in the leaf-litter of tropical rainforest. There are two known species: ''Bannana crassispina'' and ''B. parvula'', both described in 2015. Individuals are pale yellow and unpatterned, and range from around 1.0 to 1.8 mm in body length, with females being slightly larger than males. The eyes are reduced or entirely absent. Known only from a nature reserve in Xishuangbanna, ''Bannana'' belongs to a group of Asian goblin spiders known as the "''Dysderoides'' complex", that ranges from China to Pakistan and south to Indonesia. Description Species of ''Bannana'' are generally similar in overall appearance, although ''B. parvula'' is smaller. The body color is yellow, without pattern. Eyes are absent or highly reduced, visible only as remnants in ''B. crassispina''. The cephalothorax or prosoma is broadly oval when viewed from above, and the ab ...

Triaeris Stenaspis
''Triaeris stenaspis'' is a species of spider in the family Oonopidae, with a pantropical distribution. It is also found in Iran and has been introduced into Europe. A very small spider, with a maximum body length of under , it has been shown to prey successfully on springtails. Only females have ever been found, and the species may be parthenogenetic, being able to produce female offspring from unfertilized eggs. Description The male of the species is unknown. The female is generally pale orange or yellowish brown, with a body about long. Like most members of the family Oonopidae, ''T.stenaspis'' has only six eyes. Adults, but not immature stages, have hardened, darker plates or scuta on the abdomen. On the upper surface, the dorsal scutum covers most of the abdomen. On the lower surface, the ventral scutum is divided into two halves by the epigastric furrow, so that sources variously describe it as one or two scuta, making two or three scuta in total. A diagnostic character ...
