Onyaanya Constituency
Onyaanya Constituency is an electoral constituency in the Oshikoto Region of Namibia. It had 13,474 inhabitants in 2004 and 11,434 registered voters . Its district capital is the settlement of Onyaanya. Politics Onyaanya constituency is traditionally a stronghold of the South West Africa People's Organization (SWAPO) party. The councillor elected in the 2010 regional elections was Henock Kankoshi. He was subsequently elected to represent Oshikoto Region in the National Council of Namibia. In the 2015 local and regional elections the SWAPO candidate won uncontested and became councillor after no opposition party nominated a candidate. The SWAPO candidate also won the 2020 regional election. Gideon Shikomba received 4,023 votes, well ahead of Onesmus Kapuka of the Independent Patriots for Change (IPC), a party formed in August 2020, who obtained 1,063 votes. Namibian Local And Regional Elections, 2015
Namibia held elections for their local and regional councils on 27 November 2015. Ballots were cast using electronic voting. Electoral system Elections to regional councils are held using the first-past-the-post electoral system. Voters in each constituency elect one councillor to represent them on their regional council. Local authority councillors are elected by a system of proportional representation. Results Regional and local elections taken together elected 199 woman out of the 499 available seats, partly because affirmative action for women is required by law in local authority elections. Uukule Cluster centre is located in Onyaanya constituency, Namibia, 900m from the B1 road. The Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) is a political party in Namibia. It was founded by Panduleni Itula in August 2020. As an independent presidential candidate in the November 2019 election, Itula won the best result of a losing candidates ever in elections in Namibia. 2020 Namibian Local And Regional Elections
Local and regional elections were held in Namibia on 25 November 2020 to elect new local and regional councils. The previous round of elections was held in 2015 and won by the ruling SWAPO party. The National Council is the upper chamber of Namibia's bicameral Parliament. It reviews bills passed by the lower chamber and makes recommendations for legislation of regional concern to the lower chamber. Each of the 14 regions of Namibia is further subdivided into electoral constituencies. The size of the constituencies varies with the size and population of each region. There are currently 121 constituencies in Namibia. The most populous constituency according to the 2011 census was Rundu Urban in the Kavango West region with 63,431 people; the least populous was Okatyali in the Oshana region with 3,187 people. Henock Kankoshi
Henock Tangeni Kankoshi (born 19 September 1965), is a Namibian politician. He served as governor of Oshikoto Region, succeeding Penda Ya Ndakolo in 2015. When his term ended in April 2020, Ya Ndakolo became Oshikoto governor again. Kankoshi was born in Onyaanya Constituency and went to school in Ondangwa. He attended Ongwediva College of Education between 1984 and 1985 and became a teacher. In 2004 Kankoshi was elected regional councillor for the Onyaanya Constituency.
