Masako Natsume

Hideo Gosha
was a Japanese director and screenwriter. He was the first Japanese director to make the transition from television to theatrical films, and is best known for his ''jidaigeki'' and yakuza films. Beginning with '' Three Outlaw Samurai'' in 1964, Gosha directed 24 films in his career, including '' The Geisha'' (1983), which earned him the Japan Academy Film Prize for Director of the Year. Ryōhei Uchida (actor)
was a Japanese actor. Uchida appeared in nearly 300 films between 1950 and 1984. Kinema Junpo 1984 August vol.1 p.73 追悼 内田良平 He specialized in playing villains and yakuza roles. He got acquainted with film director Masaki Kobayashi through a friend's introduction. He was able to sign his contract with Shochiku film company with the help of Kobayashi. This is a list of submissions to the 55th Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film. The Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film was created in 1956 by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to honour non- English-speaking films produced outside the United States. The award is handed out annually, and is accepted by the winning film's director, although it is considered an award for the submitting country as a whole. Countries are invited by the Academy to submit their best films for competition according to strict rules, with only one film being accepted from each country. Japan has submitted films for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film since the inception of the award. The award is handed out annually by the United States Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to a feature-length motion picture produced outside the United States that contains primarily non-English dialogue. The Academy Award for Best International Feature Film was not created until 1956; however, between 1947 and 1955, the academy presented Honorary Awards to the best foreign language films released in the United States. These awards were not competitive, as there were no nominees but simply a winner every year that was voted on by the Board of Governors of the academy. Tomiko Miyao was a Japanese novelist best known for writing historical fiction. Many of her works were adapted into television dramas and films, most notably ''Onimasa'', ''Atsuhime'', and ''Yoshitsune''. Early life and education Miyao was born in Kochi, Japan on April 13, 1926. She graduated from middle school in 1943, then dropped out of high school to get away from her father, a gambler who worked as an agent for prostitutes. She moved to a new town and became a substitute teacher, and later married her coworker, a teacher named Kaoru Maeda, in 1944. They had a daughter and briefly moved to Manchuria. is a Japanese stage and film actress who has appeared in films of Yasujirō Ozu, Keisuke Kinoshita, Masaki Kobayashi and most frequently of Masahiro Shinoda, her husband. was a Japanese actor with a career spanning five decades. He appeared in nearly 300 film and television productions, both in leading and supporting roles, and was the winner of two Japan Academy Film Prizes. At the height of his career, he was one of Japan's most esteemed and prolific leading men, and worked with many significant directors including Kinji Fukasaku, Shōhei Imamura, Masaki Kobayashi, Masahiro Shinoda and Takashi Miike.
