''One Sock Missing'' is the second album by the American band the Grifters, released in 1993 on Shangri-La Records. The album was an underground hit. It was reissued by Fat Possum Records in 2016. Production The album was in part recorded at Easley McCain Recording, in Memphis, Tennessee. "I Arise" is a bonus track on the vinyl format of the album. Critical reception ''Trouser Press'' wrote that "Shouse and Taylor (who split vocals) often slip into a laconic saunter that’s a little too close for comfort to Pavement frontman Stephen Malkmus’ slacker slump." Compulsive Gamblers were an American garage rock group formed in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1990 by Greg Cartwright and Jack Yarber, both future members of the Oblivians. History First incarnation Originally known as "The Painkillers", the band was founded in 1990 by future Oblivians frontmen Greg Cartwright and Jack Yarber, both of whom shared vocal and guitar duties. With the addition of bassist Fields Trimble, keyboardist Philip "Flipper" Tubb, drummer Rod "Bushrod" Thomas, and fiddler Greg Easterly, the band soon adopted the name the "Compulsive Gamblers", and set to work recording their first 7-inch, '' Joker''. Grifters is an indie rock/alternative rock band based in Memphis who have released albums on Darla Records, Doink, Sonic Noise, Shangri-La Records, and Sub Pop Records. The band released five studio albums from 1992 to 1997. In the years following 1997, the band had breaks in activity with some members pursuing other musical projects and with the band sporadically touring in the years after. ''So Happy Together'' is the first full-length album by Memphis indie rock band Grifters. The album was noisy and lo-fi, even by Grifters standards. It was released on the now defunct Chicago label ''Sonic Noise''. It contains the re-recording "The Want," which debuted as an A Band Called Bud song. Originally released on vinyl as a six-song mini-album, it was extended to a full twelve-track album, though the album only shows ten song titles. The back of the CD tray lists the original tracks apart from the bonus tracks and some of the lyrics to "Wreck" are featured in an image by Greg Harwell.
