One Cebu
One Cebu (1-CEBU) is a provincial political party based in the province of Cebu. It is headed by Gwendolyn Garcia, governor of Cebu. History Formation and 2007 elections The party was formed in response to the '' Sugbuak'', or the failed Cebu-split movement, in time for the 2007 general elections. A brainchild of three Cebuano representatives who were in their last terms of office, ''Sugbuak'' entailed the supposed splitting of Cebu province into four independent provinces. In founding One Cebu, the Garcia family and their supporters capitalized on the widespread opposition to the ''Sugbuak'' movement, declaring that there is only one Cebu; hence, the party's name. 2007 Philippine General Election
Legislative and local elections were held in the Philippines on May 14, 2007. Positions contested included half the seats in the Senate, which are elected for six-year terms, and all the seats in the House of Representatives, who were elected for three-year terms. The duly elected legislators of the 2007 elections joined the elected senators of the 2004 elections to comprise the 14th Congress of the Philippines. Most representatives won seats by being elected directly, the constituency being a geographical district of about 250,000 voters. There were 220 seats in total for all the legislative districts. Some representatives were elected under a party-list system. Only parties representing marginalized groups were allowed to run in the party-list election. Jejomar "Jojo" Cabauatan Binay Sr. (born Jesus Jose Cabauatan Binay; November 11, 1942) is a Filipino lawyer and politician who served as the 13th vice president of the Philippines from 2010 to 2016, under President Benigno Aquino III.
