On Fire Baby (foaled February 23rd, 2009) is an American Thoroughbred racehorse and the winner of the 2014 La Troienne Stakes. Career On Fire Baby's first race was on August 19, 2011, at Ellis Park, where she came in first. Within two months of her career, she captured the 2011 Pocahontas Stakes, her first graded win. She then followed it up with a win at the 2011 Golden Rod Stakes. To start 2012, she captured the 2012 Honeybee Stakes in March. Her next victory would not come until over a year later when she won the April 2013 Apple Blossom Handicap. On Fire Baby took her first shot at the 2013 La Troienne Stakes, coming in 2nd place. Smoke Glacken
Smoke Glacken (foaled 1994 in Maryland, died April 21, 2016) was an American Champion Thoroughbred racehorse. Sired by Two Punch, a son of the important sire Mr. Prospector, his dam was Majesty's Crown, a daughter of Irish stakes winner Magesterial, who was a son of Northern Dancer. Trained by Henry Carroll, at age two, Smoke Glacken finished second in his racing debut, then won four straight, including the Tyro Stakes and the Grade II Sapling Stakes, both at Monmouth Park Racetrack. His most important win of 1996 was the Grade I Hopeful Stakes at Saratoga Race Course, which he won by nine lengths. He finished his two-year-old season with $284,500 in earnings. La Troienne Stakes
The La Troienne Stakes is a Grade I American Thoroughbred horse race for fillies and mares, age four and older, over a distance of miles held annually in early May on the Kentucky Oaks day meeting at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky during the spring meeting. The current purse is $1,000,000. History The event was inaugurated on May 3, 1986, on Kentucky Derby Day as the Louisville Budweiser Breeders' Cup Handicap at a distance of miles for three-year-olds and older and was won by the favorite, five-year-old gelding Hopeful Word in small field of four starters. The following year the event's conditions were changed to fillies & mares that were four years old or older. The event with Budweiser and Breeders' Cup sponsorship and added incentives to base purses attracted good quality runners. The Pocahontas Stakes is a Grade III American Thoroughbred horse race for two-year-old fillies over a distance of one mile on the dirt scheduled annually in September at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky. History The race was first held on Thanksgiving Day, 27 November 1969, and was fittingly named for Pocahontas, the daughter of Native-American chief Powhatan, who aided the early American settlers, and the same-named Pocahontas, the 19th-century British-bred thoroughbred mare, who had a great influence on the breed. The Golden Rod Stakes is an American Thoroughbred horse race held annually in late November at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky. A Grade II event open to two-year-old fillies, it is currently contested on dirt over a distance of miles (8.5 furlongs). The namesake goldenrod is the official flower of the state of Kentucky,. Historical notes The inaugural running of the Golden Rod Stakes took place on October 20, 1910. It was established as a selling race and won by Helen Barbee. Heavy favorite Danger Mark finished sixth in the seven-horse field. It would remain a selling race until 1919 when it became the Golden Rod Handicap. For that year only it was run at one mile (8 furlongs). The Edward R. Bradley filly Busy Signal ran away from 15 competitors and won by 12 lengths.
