Oly Slivets
Assoli Vitalyevna Slivets (russian: Ассоль Витальевна Сливец; born 22 June 1982), also known under the nickname Assoli "Oly" Slivets, is a Belarusian, and later Russian freestyle skier. She competed for Belarus until 2011, and then switched to Russia. She has participated at two Olympic Games in the Aerial event. She came fifth at the 2006 Olympics and reached the finals at the 2010 Olympics. She won a bronze at the 2007 World Ski Championships in the Aerials event. She made the podium at five of her first 53 World Cup events. Her hometown club in Minsk was the Republican Centre for Physical Education and Sports. Later she moved to Sochi. Assoli Slivets is a sister of a freestyle skier Timofei Slivets. RIA Novosti (russian: РИА Новости), sometimes referred to as RIAN () or RIA (russian: РИА, label=none) is a Russian state-owned domestic news agency. Freestyle skiing is a skiing discipline comprising aerials, moguls, cross, half-pipe, slopestyle and big air as part of the Winter Olympics. It can consist of a skier performing aerial flips and spins and can include skiers sliding rails and boxes on their skis. Known as "hot-dogging" in the early 1970s, it is also commonly referred to as freeskiing, jibbing, as well as many other names, around the world. History Ski acrobatics have been practiced since the 1930s. Aerial skiing was popularized in the 1950s by Olympic gold medalist Stein Eriksen. Early US competitions were held in the mid-1960s. Timofei Vitalyevich Slivets ( be, Цімафей Слівец; russian: Тимофей Витальевич Сливец; born in Minsk) is a Belarusian, and later Russian freestyle skier, specializing in aerials. Slivets competed at the 2010 Winter Olympics for Belarus. He placed 12th in the qualifying round of the aerials event, earning the last spot in the final. He was 6th after one jump in the final, but had the lowest scored on his second jump, ending up 9th overall. As of March 2013, his best showing at the World Championships is 10th, in the 2005.
