Angela Villela Olinto (born July 19, 1961) is an American astroparticle physicist who is the provost of Columbia University. Previously, she served as the Albert A. Michelson Distinguished Service Professor at the University of Chicago as well as the dean of the Physical Sciences Division. Her current work is focused on understanding the origin of high-energy cosmic rays, gamma rays, and neutrinos. Childhood and education Olinto was born in Boston, Massachusetts, during her father's graduate studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The family moved back to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, when she was a toddler. She lived in Rio and Brasilia and received her bachelor's degree in physics from Pontificia Universidade Catolica in 1981. Olinto Marella (14 June 1882 – 6 September 1969) was an Italian Roman Catholic priest who exercised his pastoral service in the Archdiocese of Bologna. Marella was a classmate of Pope John XXIII in Rome and the pope held him in high esteem and supported his pastoral initiatives. He was proclaimed to be Venerable on 27 March 2013 after Pope Francis recognized that he had lived a life of heroic virtue. Pope Francis confirmed a miracle attributed to him on 28 November 2019 and Marella was beatified in Bologna on 4 October 2020. Olinto Sampaio Rubini commonly known as Rubini (1934 – 18 September 2012) was a professional footballer who played in the Campeonato Paulista and Mexican Primera División. Career Born in Porto Feliz, Rubini played as a center forward. He began his career with local side Atlético Ituano, helping the club with the Campeonato Paulista Série A3 title in 1954 and 1955. Rubini signed with Paulista second division side Esporte Clube São Bento in 1957. In the summer of 1961, Rubini played with Toronto Roma of the National Soccer League. Rubini was instrumental in having Toronto Roma win the league championship. He moved to Mexico where he would play in the Primera División for nearly a decade.
