Oleg Yevenko
Aleh Yevenka (Belarusian language, Belarusian: Алег Евенка born 21 January 1991), better known as Oleg Yevenko (Russian language, Russian: Олег Евенко), is a Belarusian former professional ice hockey defenceman. Playing career Oleg played two years with the Fargo Force of the USHL and was a popular player known for his defensive play, hard hits, and fighting skills. Yevenko played collegiate hockey with the UMass Minutemen ice hockey, UMass Minutemen. After completing his Senior year at UMass, he signed an Amateur tryout with the Adirondack Flames of the AHL to finish the 2014–15 AHL season, 2014–15 season. Yevenko went scoreless in 4 games with the Flames. On 29 June 2015, Yevenko signed a one-year AHL contract with the Lake Erie Monsters, an affiliate of the Columbus Blue Jackets. Assist (ice Hockey)
In ice hockey, an assist is attributed to up to two players of the scoring team who shot, passed or deflected the Puck (sports)#In ice hockey, puck towards the scoring teammate, or touched it in any other way which enabled the Goal (ice hockey), goal, meaning that they were "assisting" in the goal. International Ice Hockey Federation
The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF; ; ) is a worldwide governing body for ice hockey. It is based in Zurich, Switzerland, and has 84 member countries. The IIHF maintains the IIHF World Ranking based on international ice hockey tournaments. Rules of play for IIHF events differ from hockey in North America and the rules of the National Hockey League (NHL). Decisions of the IIHF can be appealed through the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne, Switzerland. The IIHF maintains its own hall of fame for international ice hockey. 2014 IIHF World Championship
The 2014 IIHF World Championship was hosted by Belarus in its capital, Minsk, held from 9 to 25 May 2014. Sixteen national teams were competing in two venues, the Minsk-Arena and Chizhovka-Arena. It was the first time Belarus hosted the tournament. The selection of Belarus to host this competition was the subject of much debate, with some politicians in the European Union and North America calling for the International Ice Hockey Federation, IIHF to move the tournament to another country. Belarus Men's National Ice Hockey Team
The Belarusian men's national ice hockey team (; ) is the national ice hockey team that represents Belarus. The team is controlled by the Belarusian Ice Hockey Association. Belarus was ranked 14th in the world by the IIHF as of the 2021 World Ranking. The team achieved their best result at the Winter Olympics in the quarter-finals of the 2002 Winter Olympics where they beat Sweden and ultimately finished fourth. At the 2005 and 2006 World Championships their coach was Glen Hanlon, who brought their best-ever result in the IIHF World Championship – 6th place in 2006. Kontinental Hockey League
The Kontinental Hockey League (KHL; ) is an international professional ice hockey league founded in 2008. It comprises member clubs based in Russia (20), Belarus (1), Kazakhstan (1), and China (1) for a total of 23 clubs. It was considered in 2015 to be the strongest professional ice hockey league in Europe and Asia, and the second-strongest in the world behind North America's National Hockey League.
