Oleg Novachuk (born 9 February 1971) is a Kazakhstani businessman, and the chief executive (CEO) of KAZ Minerals. Career Novachuk has been CEO of Kazakhmys since March 2007, having joined the company in 2001 and been finance director from September 2005 to March 2007. Al-Farabi University
Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (), also called KazNU or KazGU, is a national research university located in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Named after philosopher and scholar al-Farabi, it is one of the country's largest universities. KazNU is Kazakhstan's oldest classical university. It was established on November 13, 1933 by a resolution from the Soviet Communist Party's Kazakh Regional Committee. In 2023, KazNU was ranked 150th in the world by the ''QS World University Rankings''. In 2001, KazNU was classified as a "national" university by the government of Kazakhstan. KAZ Minerals is a copper producer in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, focused on the mining of copper and the development of new copper mining projects in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. The company was listed on the London Stock Exchange and Kazakhstan Stock Exchange until it was acquired by Nova Resources in April 2021. History In 1930 Kazakhmys' operations began at the Balkhash copper smelting complex in Kazakhstan. In 1971 smelting operations commenced at the Zhezkazgan Complex. The Government of Kazakhstan forms the company, entitled OJSC Zhezgazgantsvetmet in 1992. From 1992 to 2002, a series of privatisations reduce the Government's holding from 100% to 0%.
