Oleg Kroshkin
Oleg Kroshkin (; 1950 - 2020) was a contemporary Belarusian artist. He was among the most iconic representatives of the modern Vitebsk art school, each of whom has distinctive way of incorporating urban life into the fabric of their pictorial narratives. Biography Born in 1950 in Sokol-Dolinsky village in Russia, Kroshkin died in the city of Vitebsk, Belarus, 7 November 2020. Kroshkin graduated from the art and graphic department of the Vitebsk State Art Institute in 1972. He regularly exhibited his works since 1971. Kroshkin was a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR, and from 1991, a member of the Belarusian Union of Artists. His works were characterized by appeals to pop art and urban folklore, bright colors, the incorporation of collage, and ironic use of images. In his works Kroshkin relied on postmodern thought, anti-traditionalism, written quotation, and the use of various artistic languages and techniques. Marc Chagall Museum
The Marc Chagall Museum () is a museum dedicated to the painter Marc Chagall, in his hometown of Vitebsk, Belarus. The museum was founded by the Vitebsk City Executive Committee's decision on October 23, 1991. The total area is ; it has five exposition and four exhibition halls. The museum is housed in two buildings, the Marc Chagall Art Center and the Marc Chagall House-Museum. Marc Chagall Art Center The Marc Chagall Art Center, at 2 Putna Street, was opened in 1992. Belarusian National Arts Museum
The National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus ( ) is the largest art museum in Belarus and is located in its capital, Minsk. The museum comprises more than thirty thousands works of art which make up twenty various collections and constitutes two main ones: the one of national art and the other of art monuments of various countries of the world. It was formerly known as the State Art Gallery. History An important precusor of the museum was the Vitebsk Museum of Modern Art which existed from 1919 to 1925, in the early years of the Soviet era. Tretyakov Gallery
The State Tretyakov Gallery (; abbreviated ГТГ, ''GTG'') is an art gallery in Moscow, Russia, which is considered the foremost depository of Russian fine art in the world. The gallery's history starts in 1856 when the Muscovite merchant Pavel Mikhailovich Tretyakov acquired works by Russian artists of his day with the aim of creating a collection, which might later grow into a museum of national art. In 1892, Tretyakov presented his already famous collection of approximately 2,000 works (1,362 paintings, 526 drawings, and 9 sculptures) to the Russian nation.
