Oleg Anfimov
Oleg Anfimov (Олег Анфимов; 19 February 1937 – 9 July 2019) was a Soviet engineer and politician who was the minister of electrical equipment industry of the Soviet Union between 1986 and 1991. Biography Anfimov was born in Shakhty on 19 February 1937. He was a graduate of the Riga Polytechnical Institute where he obtained a degree in electromechanical engineering. He was a member of the Communist Party. He served in different posts in the party, including the Riga Gorkom Party secretary and secretary of the central committee of the Communist Party of Latvia. He was general director of Riga electro-machinery works from 1981 to 1983. He served as the minister of electrical equipment industry between 20 July 1986 and 24 August 1991. In the period 1986–1989 Anfimov was a deputy at the Supreme Soviet. In November 1991 Anfimov was appointed president of a state-owned corporation. The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation (Minpromtorg, MITRF, ) is an executive ministry of Government of Russia. Its headquarters are in Moscow. Functions and responsibilities The ministry regulates foreign trade, defense and civil industries, metrology, technical standardization, and aviation technology development. It is a federal executive body. MITRF is responsible for subsidizing subcontractors to acquire products for government via investment contracts (special investments contracts) and may also forcibly regulate prices (e.g. for steel industry). Nikolai Ryzhkov
Nikolai Ivanovich Ryzhkov (; ; 28 September 1929 – 28 February 2024) was a Russian politician. He served as the last Premier of the Soviet Union, chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Soviet Union from 1985 to 1991 and was succeeded by Valentin Pavlov as prime minister. The same year, he lost his seat on the Presidential Council of the Soviet Union, Presidential Council, going on to become Boris Yeltsin's leading opponent in the 1991 Russian presidential election, 1991 presidential election of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic. He was the last surviving premier of the Soviet Union following the death of Ivan Silayev on 8 February 2023.
