The Old Apostolic Church (OAC) is a church with roots in the Catholic Apostolic Church. History The Old Apostolic Church's roots are found in the Catholic Apostolic Church that was established in 1832 as an outflow of the Albury Movement. Establishment in Africa The founder of the Apostolic Church in South Africa, Carl George Klibbe, was born on 24 December 1852 in Pomerania at the Baltic Sea and was a preacher in the Lutheran Church when he had contact with the Apostolic doctrine in a town named Schladen in Germany where he met Heinrich Friedrich Niemeyer, Heinrich Niemeyer for the first time. It was years later in 1886, after Klibbe moved to Hatton Vale in Queensland, Australia, that he and his family were convinced of this doctrine and sealed by the same person Apostle H. F. Niemeyer. The Catholic Apostolic Church (CAC), also known as the Irvingian Church or Irvingite Church, is a Christian denomination, denomination in the Restorationist branch of Christianity. It originated in Scotland around 1831 and later spread to Germany and the United States. The tradition to which the Catholic Apostolic Church belongs is sometimes referred to as Irvingism or the Irvingian movement after Edward Irving (1792–1834), a clergyman of the Church of Scotland credited with organising the movement. The church was organised in 1835 with the fourfold ministry of "apostles, prophets, evangelists, and pastors". Reformed Old Apostolic Church
The Reformed Old Apostolic Church is a chiliastic denomination with roots in the Catholic Apostolic Church and the Old Apostolic Church. It is part of a branch in Christianity called Irvingism with membership throughout South Africa. It has approximately 180,000 members. History The Reformed Old Apostolic Church broke away from the Old Apostolic Church. It was founded in 1972 by Robert Lombard, a former Helper Apostle of the Old Apostolic Church of Africa. Robert Lombard had been ordained as an Apostle in the Old Apostolic Church in 1958 by Apostle William Campbell, to assist in the coloured congregations of the Cape church. Lombard was the first coloured, and the second non-white Helper Apostle of the Old Apostolic Church. Truth And Reconciliation Commission (South Africa)
The Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) was a court-like restorative justice body assembled in South Africa in 1996 after the end of apartheid. Authorised by Nelson Mandela and chaired by Desmond Tutu, the commission invited witnesses who were identified as victims of gross human rights violations to give statements about their experiences, and selected some for public hearings. Perpetrators of violence could also give testimony and request amnesty from both civil and criminal prosecution. The Institute for Justice and Reconciliation was established in 2000 as the successor organisation of the TRC. Heinrich Friedrich Niemeyer
Heinrich Friedrich Niemeyer (1853–1920) was a German clergyman. He founded the Apostolic Church of Queensland in Australia in 1883. Early life Niemeyer was born on 11 December 1853 in Schladen in the Harz Mountains in Lower Saxony. Services for the General Christian Apostolic Mission took place in his mother's house. He became a priest in this faith and was appointed as an evangelist, but supported his family through working on the railways. Life in Queensland In 1883 at the age of 30, Niemeyer emigrated to Queensland with his wife and three daughters on the ship ''Almora'' arriving in Brisbane on 23 June 1883. Despite having no agricultural experience, he purchased land at Grandchester and commenced creating a farm from virgin bushland. On 7 August 1885 he was naturalised as a British subject.
