Oklahoma Gubernatorial Election, 2018
The 2018 Oklahoma gubernatorial election was held on November 6, 2018, to elect the next governor of Oklahoma. Incumbent Republican Party (United States), Republican governor Mary Fallin was term-limited, and was prohibited by the Constitution of Oklahoma from seeking another gubernatorial term. Republican Businessman Kevin Stitt was elected with 54.3% of the vote, defeating Democratic Party (United States), Democratic nominee and former Attorney General of Oklahoma, Oklahoma attorney general Drew Edmondson. Primary elections occurred on June 26, 2018. Edmondson won the Democratic nomination outright. Stitt, however, faced a runoff election against former List of mayors of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma City mayor Mick Cornett. Mick Cornett
Michael Earl Cornett Sr. (born July 16, 1958) is an American politician and former television personality who served as the 35th mayor of Oklahoma City, from 2005 until 2018. A member of the Republican Party, he was only the fourth mayor in Oklahoma City history to be elected to three termsThe City of Oklahoma CityMick Cornett ''OKC.gov''. and the first to be elected to four terms. Gary Richardson (born February 5, 1941) is an American lawyer who was the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Oklahoma from 1981 to 1984. He is also a perennial candidate for elected office in Oklahoma. As of 2018 he is a partner in the Richardson Law Firm, P.C., a plaintiff law firm in Tulsa. Career Richardson attended college at Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Oklahoma, and graduated with a B.A. degree and a minor in education in 1963. Todd Lamb (born October 19, 1971) is an American politician and university administrator who is the current president of the University of Central Oklahoma. He previously served as the 16th lieutenant governor of Oklahoma from 2011 to 2019 and as a member of the Oklahoma state senate from 2005 to 2011. He is a member of the Republican Party. Oklahoma State Auditor And Inspector
The Oklahoma State Auditor and Inspector is an elected Constitutional officer for the U.S. State of Oklahoma. The State Auditor and Inspector is responsible for auditing and prescribing bookkeeping standards of all government agencies and county treasurers within Oklahoma. The office in its current form is a consolidation of the office of State Auditor with that of the office of State Examiner and Inspector, both of which dated back to statehood in 1907. The two positions were combined in 1979 after passage of State Question 510 in 1975. Gary Jones is a United States businessman and Republican politician from Oklahoma. He is the former Oklahoma State Auditor and Inspector.
