Okhmativ
Okhmativ ( uk, Охматів, pl, Ochmatów) is a village in Uman Raion, Cherkasy Oblast, Ukraine with about 800 inhabitants. It belongs to Bashtechky rural hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. Battle Of Okhmativ (1655)
The Battle of Okhmativ or battle of Ochmatów (russian: Битва под Ахматовом, uk, Охматівська битва, pl, Bitwa pod Ochmatowem) took place around 19 January - 22 January 1655 (January 29 - February 1, N.S) during the Russo-Polish War (1654–67) between the armies of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth and the Crimean Khanate on the one hand and of the Russian Tsardom and the Cossacks on the other. The Russian-Cossack army led by Bohdan Khmelnytsky and Vasily Sheremetev went to the relief of Uman besieged by the Polish–Lithuanian army. When the commanders of the Polish army Stanisław Potocki and Stanisław Lanckoroński learned about the march of the Russians and Cossacks, they discontinued the siege and together with an army of the Crimean Khanate went out to meet them. Battle Of Ochmatów (1644)
The Battle of Okhmativ or Battle of Ochmatów ( pl, Ochmatów) of 30 January 1644 refers to the engagement between the Polish forces under hetman Stanisław Koniecpolski and the horde of Crimean Tatars under Tugay Bey. Koniecpolski dealt a crushing defeat to Tugay Bey's forces near Okhmativ. This was the greatest Polish victory over the Tatars in the first half of the 17th century, and brought international fame and recognition to Koniecpolski. Background After several years of relative quiet, the Crimean Tatars, united after a civil war, began raiding the Polish border in strength in the early 1640s. Provoked by a Cossack raid, a large Tatar raiding force began assembling in late 1643 near Ochakiv. In response, Polish military commander, Grand Crown Hetman, Stanisław Koniecpolski, ordered his forces to concentrate near Vinnytsia for 27 December. Uman Raion
Uman Raion ( uk, Уманський район, Romanization of Ukrainian, translit.: ''Umans'kyi raion'') is a raion (district) in the west of Cherkasy Oblast (Oblast, province) of central Ukraine. Its Capital (political), administrative center is the city of Uman. Cherkasy Oblast
Cherkasy Oblast ( uk, Черка́ська о́бласть, Cherkaska oblast, ), also referred to as Cherkashchyna ( uk, Черка́щина, ) is an oblast (province) of central Ukraine located along the Dnieper River. The administrative center of the oblast is the city of Cherkasy. A hromada ( uk, територіальна громада, lit=territorial community, translit=terytorialna hromada) is a basic unit of administrative division in Ukraine, similar to a municipality. It was established by the Government of Ukraine on 12 June 2020. Similar terms exist in Poland ('' gromada'') and in Belarus ('' hramada'').
