The flag of Gabon () is a tricolour (flag), tricolour consisting of three horizontal green, yellow, and blue bands. Adopted in 1960 to replace the previous colonial flag containing the Flag of France, French Tricolour at the Canton (flag), canton, it has been the flag of the Gabon, Gabonese Republic since the country gained independence that year. The design of the present flag entailed the removal of the Tricolour and the widening of the yellow stripe at the centre. Gabon ( ; ), officially the Gabonese Republic (), is a country on the Atlantic coast of Central Africa, on the equator, bordered by Equatorial Guinea to the northwest, Cameroon to the north, the Republic of the Congo to the east and south, and the Gulf of Guinea to the west. Woleu-Ntem Province
Woleu-Ntem is the northernmost of Gabon's nine provinces. It covers an area of 38,465 km and named after Woleu and Ntem rivers that cross it. The provincial capital is Oyem, which had a total of 60,685 inhabitants in 2013. As Woleu-Ntem is the most northerly province of Gabon, it is the only province that borders Cameroon, and the only one with multiple foreign borders (other two being the Republics of the Congo and of Equatorial Guinea). A department (, ) is an administrative or political division in several countries. Departments are the first-level divisions of 11 countries, nine in the Americas and two in Africa. An additional 10 countries use departments as second-level divisions, eight in Africa, and one each in the Americas and Europe. Mitzic is a town located in Woleu-Ntem province, Gabon. Mitzic is located 322.71 km from Libreville, the capital of Gabon, and 111.47 km from Oyem, capital of Woleu Ntem.
