Oka (automobile)
The Lada Оkа (VAZ-1111, SeAZ-1111, КаmАZ-1111, Astro 11301) () is a city car designed in the Soviet Union in the later part of the seventies by AvtoVAZ. It entered production in 1988 powered by a Single overhead camshaft, SOHC two-cylinder engine. While developed at AutoVAZ by a team led by Yuri Kuteev, no production models were built there. Instead, manufacturing was outsourced to SeAZ factory in Serpukhov and ZMA (factory), ZMA in Naberezhnye Chelny (then owned by Kamaz and now owned by SeverstalAvto). Massive plans were in place for a new plant in Yelabuga, but these failed to materialize. The car was also produced in Azerbaijan by the Gyandzha Auto Plant. The name comes from the Oka River in Russia upon which Serpukhov is situated. AvtoVAZ ( rus, АвтоВАЗ, p=ɐftɐˈvas) is a Russian Automotive industry, automobile manufacturing company owned by the state. It was formerly named as VAZ (), an acronym for Volga Automotive Plant in Russian (). AvtoVAZ is best known for its flagship series of Lada vehicles. Gyandzha Auto Plant
Ganja Auto Plant () is an auto assembly plant situated in the Ganja city in Azerbaijan. The factory was founded in 1986 as KiAZ (Kirovabad Automobile Plant) for a production of run of 30,000 "GAZelle" vans according to the project brief. The commissioning was intended to end in 1989 but following a decision of Council of Ministers of the former USSR the construction of the factory was interrupted, and the technological project was given to the Bryansk Automobile Plant. The 256 hectares (633 acres) of overall territory, including the of the factory footprint itself, stayed without utilization for 15 years. Construction of an automobile plant was considered by the government after the end of the Soviet Union when Azerbaijan had obtained its independence. Sollers - Naberezhnye Chelny is a car plant of the Sollers JSC group located in Naberezhnye Chelny, Russia. It was formerly a carmaking company known as ZMA () and produced the VAZ-1111, Oka micro-car under VAZ license.
