OhioHealth is a not-for-profit system of hospitals and healthcare providers based in Columbus, Ohio, Columbus and the Columbus metropolitan area, Ohio, Central Ohio area. The system consists of 16 hospitals, 300+ ambulatory sites, hospice, home health, medical equipment and other health services spanning 55 Ohio counties. As of May 2025, the organization has 35,000 physicians, associates, and volunteers, with more than $6.3 billion in net revenue. History Early beginnings OhioHealth can trace its origins back to 1891, with the creation of Protestant Christianity, Protestant Hospital Association, the fourth hospital in Columbus, and the first not associated with the Roman Catholic Church. In 1922, this hospital became White Cross Hospital, affiliated with the Ohio Methodist Episcopal Church, Methodist Episcopal Conference, but due to financial difficulty during the Great Depression, only the United Methodist Church was able to continue providing support. OhioHealth O'Bleness Hospital is a 144-bed community hospital at 55 Hospital Drive, Athens, Ohio 45701. O'Bleness overlooks the Hocking River.
