Odyssey Television Network, Inc. is a Canadian licensed Greek language television broadcaster who owns and operates three national ethnic channels, available via cable and satellite. Headquartered in Toronto, Ontario, the company has been in operation since 1996 and is headed by John Maniatakos, son of longtime Greek-Canadian broadcasting stalwart, Peter Maniatakos. Channels Odyssey Television Network currently operates the following three Greek-language television channels: *Odyssey (OTN1) * ERT World Canada (OTN2) * MEGA Cosmos Canada (OTN3) In addition to the 3 channels that it has launched itself, Odyssey TV also distributes a number of foreign services in Canada. ERT World is a Canadian exempt Category B Greek language specialty channel and is owned by Odyssey Television Network. It broadcasts programming from ERT World and local Canadian content produced by Odyssey TV. It launched in November 2001 on Rogers Cable. Programming on ERT World Canada includes news, talk shows, documentaries, sports, cultural programs and more. ERT World is the international service of ERT, Greece's public broadcaster. CHTO
CHTO (1690 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The station airs an ethnic radio format. It is owned by Canadian Hellenic Toronto Radio Inc., which is run by John Maniatakos and son of Peter Maniatakos who owns the Odyssey Television Network. CHTO's programming is predominantly Greek, although it is mandated to air programming in other languages as well. CHTO's radio studios are on Danforth Avenue in the Riverdale neighbourhood. By day, CHTO is powered at 6,000 watts. But to avoid interference to other radio stations, at night it reduces power to 1,000 watts. It uses a non-directional antenna. The transmitter is on Waterman Avenue at Hollinger Road in the O'Connor-Parkview neighbourhood near the Don River. It also is heard on a repeater station, CHTO-1 at 1490 kHz in Mississauga. Star Channel is a Greek free-to-air television channel that broadcasts a mix of foreign and Greek shows. It was launched in December 1993 and is owned by New Television S.A. (a company owned by Giannis Vardinogiannis).
