Odra (magazine)
''Odra'' ( ; ''Oder'' river in Polish) is a Polish monthly art and culture magazine which has the reputation of an opinion-maker. The magazine provides news and commentaries on art and culture in Poland and abroad. History and profile ''Odra'' has been published in Wrocław since 1961. The publishers of the magazine, since its inception, are the ''Instytut Książki'' and ''Ośrodek Kultury i Sztuki we Wrocławiu''. The magazine provides news on art and culture on monthly basis. It publishes poetry and prose, philosophical discourses, historical articles (mostly concerning the Lower Silesia and Wrocław), correspondence from abroad. It also reviews and discusses cultural events related to literature, fine arts, music and theatre. The sections inside have not changed much over the years. Zbigniew Herbert
Zbigniew Herbert (; 29 October 1924 – 28 July 1998) was a Polish poet, essayist, drama writer and moralist. He is one of the best known and the most translated post-war Polish writers. While he was first published in the 1950s (a volume titled ''Chord of Light'' was issued in 1956), soon after he voluntarily ceased submitting most of his works to official Polish government publications. He resumed publication in the 1980s, initially in the underground press. Starting in the 1960s, he was nominated several times for the Nobel Prize in Literature. His books have been translated into 38 languages. Herbert was educated as an economist and a lawyer. Herbert was one of the main poets of the Polish opposition to communism. Jakobe Mansztajn (born February 10, 1982, in Gdańsk) is a Polish poet and blogger. Life and career He studied psychology at the University of Gdańsk. Aleksandra Ziółkowska-Boehm (born 15 April 1949) is a Polish-born United States–based writer and academic. She obtained her Ph.D. in humanistic studies at the Warsaw University. Miłosz Biedrzycki, also referred to as MLB (born 1967 in Koper, Yugoslavia) is a Polish poet, translator and geophysics, geophysical engineer. One of the authors of the "brulion, ''brulion'' generation". Wacław Grabkowski (born 28 March 1953) is a Polish multi-prize winning novelist, short story writer and poet. He is an author of books for adults and teenagers. Jan Franciszek Miodek (born 7 June 1946 in Tarnowskie Góry, Silesian Voivodeship), is a Polish linguist, a prescriptive grammarian and a professor of Wrocław University.
