Odissea
''Odissea'' ("Odyssey") is the fifth studio album released by Mango, in 1986. The album contains some of his most known songs - " Lei verrà" and "Oro" - and two songs in English language - "Love is just a melody" and "Modern love" co-written with Simon Marsh. "Oro" was originally called "Mama voodoo" with lyrics by the singer's brother Armando Mango. Later, the title was changed and the final lyrics were written by Mogol. Brian Auger provided hammond organ on the album. Italian singer Mina covered "Oro" on '' Canarino mannaro'' (1994). Mango (singer)
Giuseppe "Pino" Mango (6 November 1954 – 8 December 2014), better known mononymously as Mango, was an Italian singer-songwriter and musician. He was known for his style which fuses pop, rock, folk, world music and for his extensive vocal range. He is best known for the song "Oro", from his 1986 breakout album release ''Odissea''. Other hits include " Lei verrà", "Mediterraneo", " Bella d'estate", "Amore per te", "Come Monnalisa", "Nella mia città" and "La rondine". Mango has been defined by Italian music author Mario Luzzatto Fegiz as an "authentic innovator of Italian pop music" and AllMusic considers him an "Italian rock fusion innovator". "Oro" () is a 1984 Italian song composed by Mango (music) and Mogol (lyrics) and performed by Mango. It is included in the 1986 album ''Odissea''. The song was originally recorded as a demo as "Mama Woodoo" with lyrics of Mango's brother Armando, before being re-written by Mogol and marking the breakout of Mango. The singer's brother Armando Mango contributed to the songwriting. Brian Auger
Brian Albert Gordon Auger (born 18 July 1939) is an English jazz rock and rock keyboardist who specialises in the Hammond organ. Auger has worked with Rod Stewart, Tony Williams, Jimi Hendrix, John McLaughlin, Sonny Boy Williamson, Eric Burdon, and CAB. He has incorporated jazz, early British pop, R&B, soul music, and rock into his sound. He has been nominated for a Grammy Award. Career In 1965, Auger played on " For Your Love" by The Yardbirds as a session musician. He was brought in to play the Hammond organ, but settled for the only available keyboard, the harpsichord. That same year, Auger formed the group The Steampacket with Long John Baldry, Julie Driscoll, Vic Briggs, and Rod Stewart. Laura Bortolotti (born 3 September 1963), better known by the stage name Laura Valente, is an Italian singer. Career Early solo career Valente was born in Milan. After winning a songwriting contest in Castellana Grotte with ''Storia di un drogato'', a song about a teenage victim of drug addiction, she was invited by Gianni Bella to collaborate on his album ''G.B. 2'' (1984). Fonit Cetra
Fonit Cetra was an Italian record label, active between 1957 and 2000. History Fonit Cetra was founded in 1957 from merging two already existing labels: Cetra (acronym from Compagnia per edizioni, teatro, registrazioni ed affini), owned by RAI and previously EIAR, and (acronym from Fonodisco Italiano Trevisan), founded in 1911 in Milan. Both labels had already been popular, thanks to such artists as Nilla Pizzi, Achille Togliani, Natalino Otto and Domenico Modugno. Alberto Salerno
Alberto Salerno (born 30 December 1949) is an Italian lyricist and producer. Life and career Born in Milan, Salerno is the son of the popular lyricist Nisa. He started composing lyrics in the late 1960s, becoming a usual collaborator of Mino Reitano, and writing hits such as Dik Dik's " L'isola di Wight" and Nomadi's " Io vagabondo". Giulio Rapetti (born 17 August 1936), best known as Mogol (), is an Italian music lyricist. He is best known for his collaborations with Lucio Battisti, Gianni Bella, Marcella Bella, Adriano Celentano and Mango (singer), Mango. Career Mogol was born in Milan. His father, Mariano Rapetti, was an important director of the Casa Ricordi, Ricordi record label, and had been in his own time a successful lyricist of the 1950s. Young Giulio, who was likewise employed by Ricordi as a public relations expert, began his own career as a lyricist against his father's wishes.
