Odenwaldbahn
The Odenwald Railway (german: Odenwaldbahn) is a mainly single-tracked main line from Darmstadt and Hanau to Eberbach on the River Neckar, which crosses the Odenwald mountains in the German states of Hesse and Baden-Württemberg. Since 1882 the route has been operated throughout as a standard gauge line and since 2005 has been worked by diesel multiples owned by the VIAS private railway company. The line is timetable no. KBS 641. To distinguish it from the Odenwald Railway in Baden from Heidelberg to Würzburg it is also known as the Hessian Odenwald Railway (''Hessische Odenwaldbahn'') and occasionally as the Mümling Railway (''Mümlingbahn''), because it follows the valley of the same name from Beerfelden Hetzbach to Höchst im Odenwald. Groß-Umstadt Wiebelsbach station is a station on the Odenwald Railway (german: Odenwaldbahn) in the town of Groß-Umstadt in the German state of Hesse. The station is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 5 station. The Odenwald Railway running from Eberbach branches at the station towards Darmstadt and Hanau. The station is located in the area administered by the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund (Rhine-Main Transport Association, RMV). Hesseneck
Hesseneck is a village and a former municipality in the Odenwaldkreis (district) in Hesse, Germany. With only just over 600 inhabitants, Hesseneck was Hesse’s smallest self-governing community. Since January 2018, it is part of the new town Oberzent. Geography Location The community lies in the southern Odenwald at the foot of the Krähberg at elevations of 230 to 500 m. It lies at the three-state common point shared by Hesse, Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg. The community's name itself means "Hesse Corner". The outlying centre of Hesselbach has no road link to Hessian territory and can only be reached through Baden-Württemberg. Babenhausen Station
Babenhausen (officially: ''Babenhausen (Hess)'') station is a junction station at the intersection of the Rhine-Main Railway (german: Rhine-Main-Bahn) and the Odenwald Railway (german: Odenwaldbahn) in the town of Babenhausen in the German state of Hesse. History The station was built for the Rhine-Main Railway and put into operation on 25 December 1858. In 1868, the first section of the Odenwald Railway was opened to Groß-Umstadt. In 1876, the three-storey station building was erected, which still stands today. It was built in light-coloured sandstone. In 1904, a small restaurant was opened. The station building is listed as a monument under the Hessian Heritage Act. In the 1920s, work began on rebuilding the station to deal with increasing traffic. Bombardier Itino is a diesel multiple unit manufactured by Bombardier Transportation, originally developed by Adtranz. It has two or three cars and is capable of . 40 units have been built and 17 more are on order. It is in service in Germany and Sweden. Mümling
The Mümling is a river of Hesse and Bavaria, Germany. It is long and lends its name to the Mümlingtal (Mümling valley) in Odenwald. In Bavaria it is sometimes called Mömling in official documents. Erbach () is a town and the district seat of the Odenwaldkreis (district) in Hesse, Germany. It has a population of around 13,000. The Aschaffenburg−Höchst (Odenwald) railway was a single-tracked, Bavarian branch line in southern Germany, running from Aschaffenburg to the Odenwald railway at Höchst im Odenwald. Because the railway ran through the Bachgau, it was also known as the ''Bachgaubahn'' ("Bachgau railway"). History The 30 kilometre long railway was built under the terms of the ''Lokalbahn'' law of 12 July 1906 and a state treaty between the Kingdom of Bavaria and the Grand Duchy of Hesse.
