Organización Deportiva Bolivariana (ODEBO; English: Bolivarian Sport Organization) is a sports organization based in South America. It organizes the Bolivarian Games. History The idea of creating a Bolivarian sports organization came to mind to the region's country leaders during the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games. Alberto Nariño Cheyne, Colombia's national director for sports, was at the forefront of the project. The ODEBO was created on 16 August 1938 by the Olympic committees of Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, Peru and Venezuela. Its creation was inaugurated at the Cundinamarca Palace in Bogota. Its headquarters opened in Caracas. Bolivarian Games
The Bolivarian Games (Spanish: ''Juegos Bolivarianos'', full name ''Juegos Deportivos Bolivarianos'') are a regional multi-sport event held in honor of Simón Bolívar, and organized by the Bolivarian Sports Organization (''Organización Deportiva Bolivariana'', ODEBO). The event is open to athletes from Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, Peru, and Venezuela. In 2010, the ODEBO decided to include Chile as the seventh member of ODEBO. 2012 Bolivarian Beach Games
The 2012 Bolivarian Beach Games, officially the I Bolivarian Beach Games, is an international multi-sport event that is being held from November 1–11, 2012 in Lima, Peru. With approximately 1,500 athletes from 10 nations participating in 15 sports. The Bolivarian Beach are organized by the ODEBO, the Bolivarian Sports Organization. The 2012 Bolivarian Beach Games saw the participation of Chile for the first time as a Bolivarian team, Chile had joined ODEBO not long before the games. National Olympic Committee
A National Olympic Committee (NOC) is a national constituent of the worldwide Olympic movement. Subject to the controls of the International Olympic Committee, NOCs are responsible for organizing their people's participation in the Olympic Games. They may nominate cities within their respective areas as candidates for future Olympic Games. The Bolivian Olympic Committee ( Comité Olímpico Boliviano - COB) is the National Olympic Committee representing Bolivia in the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the Pan American Sports Organization (PASO), the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) and the South American Sports Organization (ODESUR). It was created 1932 and recognized by the IOC in 1936. It is based in La Paz, Bolivia.
