Octavia Sperati
Octavia Sperati, formerly known as Octavia, is a Norwegian gothic metal band from Bergen, Norway. The group released their debut album '' Winter Enclosure'' in 2005. Their second album, '' Grace Submerged'', was released in May 2007. Both albums were released by Candlelight Records, and both releases were followed by a tour in the United Kingdom. The band is currently all female except for the drummer, Ivar Alver. On 20 July 2008, Octavia Sperati announced that they would be "taking a break." On 10 March 2009, it was announced that singer Silje Wergeland joined Dutch rock band The Gathering, replacing singer Anneke van Giersbergen. ''Winter Enclosure'', the debut album by Norwegian gothic metal band Octavia Sperati was released on 14 June 2005 on the Candlelight Records label. The album was promoted with two music videos: "Lifelines of Depths" (in a second version of the already known in 2004) and "Hunting Eye", both made by the director Asle Birkeland. Grace Submerged
''Grace Submerged'', the second and final album by Norwegian doom/ gothic metal band Octavia Sperati, was released in May 2007 via Candlelight Records. Background ''Grace Submerged'' was produced by Herbrand Larsen, who also plays keyboards and was the engineer on some albums of Enslaved. Ivar Bjørnson (guitarist for this band) makes an appearance here, co-writing "Dead End Poem". The album features an interpretation of the Phil Lynott-penned "Don't Believe A Word", which Terrorizer Magazine called "a chilling ballad". Krister Dreyer ("Morfeus") plays the piano and keyboards in that song and the samples in "Submerged". The song "Moonlit" was released as a music video. Silje Wergeland
Silje Wergeland (born 9 November 1974) is a Norwegian singer, songwriter and pianist. She is best known as the current lead vocalist of the Dutch progressive/alternative rock band The Gathering (since 2009). She was also the frontwoman of Norwegian doom/gothic metal band Octavia Sperati. Musical career Silje Wergeland was a founding member of the female group of gothic / doom metal Octavia Sperati in 2000, where she remained as vocalist and one of the main songwriters along with Gyri Losnegaard and Bodil Myklebust, until 2008. Anneke Van Giersbergen
Anna Maria "Anneke" van Giersbergen (born 8 March 1973) is a Dutch singer, songwriter and guitarist who became known worldwide as the lead singer for the rock band The Gathering between 1994 and 2007. She also has a solo career. The project was originally called Agua de Annique, but now goes by her own name. A frequent collaborator of Arjen Anthony Lucassen, she portrayed main characters in the albums '' Into the Electric Castle'', '' 01011001'' and '' The Theater Equation'' by his project Ayreon. In 2014 they collaborated on a project called The Gentle Storm, which produced an album titled '' The Diary'' that was released in 2015. The Gathering is a Dutch rock band, founded in 1989 by brothers Hans and René Rutten and vocalist Bart Smits in Oss, North Brabant. The Gathering earliest releases were categorized as atmospheric doom metal with influences from extreme metal acts like Celtic Frost and Hellhammer.
