Oconto High School is a public high school in Oconto, Wisconsin, USA. Enrollment is approximately 394 students. The present school building was constructed in 1969. The school mascot is the Blue Devil and the school colors are blue and gold. The principal of Oconto High School is Adam DeWitt. Athletics Oconto is a member of the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association. It competes in Division 4 for American football and in Division 3 for volleyball, basketball, track and field, wrestling, baseball and softball. It is a member of the Packerland Conference. In 1999, the volleyball team advanced to the state semi-finals. In 2003, the baseball team advanced to the WIAA Division 2 State semi-final game against Milwaukee Lutheran in Fox Cities Stadium. Oconto is a city and county seat of Oconto County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 4,609 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Green Bay metropolitan area. The city is located partially within the town of Oconto. History Oconto is home to Copper Culture State Park, which has remains dated to around 5000-6000 B.C. It is a burial ground of the Copper Culture Indians. This burial ground is considered to be the oldest cemetery in Wisconsin and one of the oldest in the nation. Their descendants include the Menominee, who have lived here for thousands of years. The first Europeans to come to the area were the French, who considered it to be part of New France. Jacob Dickert (born August 23, 1983) is an American college football coach, who is the current head coach at Wake Forest. He was the head coach at Washington State University from 2021–2024. Dickert attended school and played football at the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point, and has coached at various colleges and universities since his graduation in 2007. Playing career Dickert began his high school career at Oconto High School in Oconto, Wisconsin. His father, Jeffrey Dickert, was the superintendent of the Oconto School District. The family moved to Kohler, Wisconsin, for Jake's senior year after Jeffrey took the job of superintendent there, and Jake finished his high school career at Kohler High School. Elijah Behnke (born February 15, 1983) is an American small business owner and Republican politician from Oconto County, Wisconsin. He is a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing the 6th Assembly district since January 2025; prior to the 2024 redistricting, he represented the 89th Assembly district from May 2021 until January 2025. Jeremy Lade
Jeremy "Opie" Lade (born January 6, 1981) is an American Paralympic wheelchair basketball player and head coach from Oconto, Wisconsin. He was injured in a car accident at age 8, and attended his first wheelchair sports camp at the age of 13 at UW-Whitewater. He is a two-time Parapan American Games gold medalist in both 2007 and 2011. In 2002, he won a gold medal at IWBF World Championship and in 2006 won a silver one from the same place. Six years later, he was awarded a bronze medal for his participation at the 2012 Summer Paralympics and is currently employed as a head coach at the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater. The Wisconsin State Assembly is the lower house of the Wisconsin Legislature. Together with the smaller Wisconsin Senate, the two constitute the legislative branch of the U.S. state of Wisconsin. Neuroscience Group Field At Fox Cities Stadium
Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium is a baseball park in Grand Chute, Wisconsin (although it has an Appleton mailing address). It is primarily used for baseball, and is the home field of the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, the Midwest League Minor League Baseball affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. The stadium also hosts a few music concerts each year. From 2000 until 2018, it hosted the NCAA Division III College World Series; the contract to host the event ran out in 2018 and the stadium chose to not renew the contract due to the expanded D-III playoffs schedule conflicting with the Timber Rattlers' schedule.
