Obowo
Obowo, also spelled Obowu is a Local Government Area in Imo State, Nigeria formed during the Ibrahim Babangida administration in May 1989. It was carved out of Etiti Local Government Area with its headquarters at Isi Nweke. There are twenty-two autonomous communities in Obowo Local Government Area. Achara, Amanze, Umuariam, Umunachi, Umuagu, Ehume, Umungwa, Umulogho, Odenkwume, Okwuohia, Amuzi, Alike, Avutu, Umuosochie and Umuoke are towns in the L.G.A. Obowo is located about 45 minutes from Owerri, across the Imo River and is less than 30 minutes from the Umuahia and Ahiara in opposite directions with the Amanze seven and a half (71/2) junction and landmark in-between. It is surrounded by Ahiazu Mbaise, Ahiazu and Aboh Mbaise Local Government Areas to the north and Umuahia Abia State to the East. Imo State
Imo () is a States of Nigeria, state in the South East (Nigeria), South-East geopolitical zone of Nigeria, bordered to the north by Anambra State, Rivers State to the west and south, and Abia State to the east. Ahiazu Mbaise is a Local Government Area in Imo State, Nigeria. It has an area of 114 km and an estimated population of 170,902 as of the 2006 census. It is the result of a merger between Ahiara and Ekwerazu towns, and it is headquartered in the town of Afor-Oru. Umuoke
Umuokeh or Umuoke is a village situated in Obowo local government area of Imo state, Nigeria. Okwuohia
Okwuohia is one of the 14 villages of Obowo, Imo State, Nigeria. History During the colonial era, the British established an oil mill in Okwuohia to take advantage of the abundant local water resources in order to harvest palm extract. Due to the huge demand for palm oil, the mill generated significant profits. Palm oil was exported to Europe and around the world for the production of finished goods, such as soap and candles, which helped the local economy. The British also introduced the customary-court system, with warrant chiefs who dispensed tribal justice. Culture The community's traditional celebrations include thIwa Akwa Festival(Initiation Into Manhood) and the African Folk Music Festival ''Mbom-Uzo''. Umuahia
Umuahia () is the capital city of Abia State in southeastern Nigeria. Umuahia is located along the rail road that lies between Port Harcourt to its south, and Enugu city to its north. Umuahia has a population of 359,230 according to the 2006 Nigerian census. Umuahia is renowned for being a railway and agricultural market center, which attracts traders and farmers from neighboring towns to sell their produce, such as yams, cassava, corn (maize), taro, citrus fruits, and palm oil and kernels.
