Obersee (Lake Zürich)
Lake Zurich (, ; ) is a lake in Switzerland, extending southeast of the city of Zurich. Depending on the context, Lake Zurich or can be used to describe the lake as a whole, or just that part of the lake downstream of the Hurden peninsula and Seedamm causeway (between Pfäffikon and Rapperswil). In the latter case, the upstream part of the lake is called '' Obersee'' (), while the lower part is sometimes also referred to as the Lower Lake (), respectively. Geography Lake Zurich is a glacial lake that was formed by the . Its main tributary is the River Linth, which rises in the glaciers of the Glarus Alps. The Linth originally flew directly into Lake Zurich, but was later diverted by the Escher canal (completed in 1811) into Lake Walen () from where its waters are now carried to the east end of Lake Zurich (near Schmerikon) by means of the straightened Linth canal (completed in 1816). High Rhine
High Rhine (, ; kilometres 0 to 167 of the Rhine) is the section of the Rhine between Lake Constance () and the city of Basel, flowing in a general east-to-west direction and forming mostly the Germany–Switzerland border. It is the first of four named sections of the Rhine (High Rhine, Upper Rhine, Middle Rhine, Lower Rhine) between Lake Constance and the Rhine–Meuse–Scheldt delta, river delta at the North Sea. Name The term ''High Rhine'' was introduced by scientists in the 19th century. Above all geologists tried to differentiate the High Rhine () linguistically from the Upper Rhine (, ). Aare
The Aare () or Aar () is the main tributary of the High Rhine (its discharge even exceeds that of the latter at their confluence) and the longest river that both rises and ends entirely within Switzerland. Its total length from its source to its junction with the Rhine comprises about , during which distance it descends , draining an area of , almost entirely within Switzerland, and accounting for close to half the area of the country, including all of Central Switzerland. There are more than 40 hydroelectric plants along the course of the Aare. The river's name dates to at least the La Tène period, and it is attested as ''Nantaror'' "Aare valley" in the Berne zinc tablet. The name was Latinized as ''Arula''/''Arola''/''Araris''. Quaibrücke, Zurich
Quaibrücke () is a road, tramway, pedestrian and bicycle bridge over the river Limmat, at the outflow of Lake Zurich in the city of Zurich, Switzerland. It was built simultaneously with the construction of Quaianlagen (Zurich), Zurich's new quays between 1881 and 1887. Geography The Quaibrücke is situated at the outflow of Lake Zurich and connects Bürkliplatz with Bellevueplatz, and thus the lake's left (or western) shore with the Goldcoast (Switzerland), right (or eastern) shore.
