Oberried Am Brienzersee
Oberried am Brienzersee is a Municipalities of Switzerland, municipality and village in the Interlaken-Oberhasli (administrative district), Interlaken-Oberhasli administrative district in the Cantons of Switzerland, canton of Bern (canton), Bern in Switzerland. Besides Oberried itself, the municipality includes the settlements of Dörfli and Ebligen. History Oberried am Brienzersee is first mentioned in 1303 as ''Obirnriet''. The village only rarely appeared in historical records after its founding. Between 1411 and 1439 the ''Herrschaft (territory), Herrschaft'' of Ringgenberg, which included Oberried, was given to Interlaken Monastery. In 1528, the city of Bern adopted the new faith of the Protestant Reformation and began imposing it on the Bernese Oberland. The monastery unsuccessfully rebelled against the new faith. Interlaken-Oberhasli (administrative District)
Interlaken-Oberhasli District in the Canton of Bern was created on 1 January 2010, uniting the former Interlaken District, Interlaken and Oberhasli districts. It is part of the Bernese Oberland, Oberland administrative region. It contains 28 municipalities with an area of and a population () of 48,763. Interlaken
Interlaken (; lit.: ''between lakes'') is a Swiss town and municipality in the Interlaken-Oberhasli administrative district in the canton of Bern. It is an important and well-known tourist destination in the Bernese Oberland region of the Swiss Alps, and the main transport gateway to the mountains and lakes of that region. The town is located on flat alluvial land called Bödeli between two lakes, Brienz to the east and Thun to the west, and alongside the river Aare, which flows between them. Transport routes to the east and west alongside the lakes are complemented by a route southwards into the near mountain resorts and high mountains, e.g. the famous high Alpine peaks of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau, following upwards the Lütschine. In heraldry and heraldic vexillology, a blazon is a formal description of a coat of arms, flag or similar emblem, from which the reader can reconstruct an accurate image. Augstmatthorn
The Augstmatthorn is a mountain of the Emmental Alps, overlooking Lake Brienz in the Bernese Oberland. The largely forested land from the top of the mountain southwards to the lake has been identified by BirdLife International as a 15,900 ha Important Bird Area. Augstmatthorn and its neighbouring peak Suggiture (2085 m) are both within a Federal Wildlife Protection Area as well as a protected moorland area. Fauna The first alpine Alpine ibex, ibex colony in the canton of Bern was settled on the Augstmatthorn at the beginning of the 20th century. The reintroduction was coordinated by the Alpine Game Park Interlaken-Harder, which had its first ibex again in 1913. The reintroduction was so successful that animals were recaptured from the Augstmatthorn to establish new colonies, such as on the Niederhorn. Tannhorn
The Tannhorn is a mountain of the Emmental Alps in Switzerland. It lies to the west of the Brienzer Rothorn and to the east of the Augstmatthorn. On its southern side it overlooks Lake Brienz. Lake Brienz
Lake Brienz () is a lake just north of the Alps, in the canton of Bern in Switzerland. It has a length of about , a width of and a maximum depth of . Its area is ; the surface is above the sea-level. It is fed, among others, by the upper reaches of the Aare at its eastern end, the Giessbach at its southern shore from steep, forested and rocky hills of the high Faulhorn and Schwarzhoren more than above the lake, as well as by both headwaters of the Lütschine, the ''Schwarze Lütschine'' (Black Lütschine) flowing from Grindelwald, and the ''Weisse Lütschine'' (White Lütschine) from the Lauterbrunnen Valley, at its southwestern corner. Brünig Railway Line
The Brünig steam railway line () is a Switzerland, Swiss narrow gauge railway line that links Lucerne, in central Switzerland, with Interlaken, in the Bernese Oberland. The line runs via Alpnachstad, Giswil, Meiringen and Brienz, and passes over the Brünig Pass, using sections of rack railway to overcome the gradients, but with most of the line operated by normal adhesion methods. The line is long. It opened in stages between 1888 and 1916, and was, between 1903 and 2004, the only narrow gauge railway, narrow gauge line of the Swiss Federal Railways. Today the line forms part, along with the Luzern–Stans–Engelberg railway line, Luzern–Stans–Engelberg line, of the Zentralbahn company.
