Oakland Soul Sports Club is an American professional Association football, soccer team based in Oakland, California. The club was formed in 2024 as the women's team of Oakland Roots SC, and began play in the USL W League in the summer of 2023. History On May 24, 2022, the Oakland Roots announced the formation of a women's team to play in the USL W League. The team unveiled its crest and brand on June 23, 2023, the 50th anniversary of women's sports legislation Title IX. They finished the season 10-0-2, good for second place in the Nor Cal Division before being eliminated in the Conference Semifinals by San Francisco Glens SC. Merritt College is a Public college, public community college in Oakland, California. Merritt, like the other three campuses of the Peralta Community College District, is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges. The USL Super League (USLS) is a planned Division II professional women's soccer league in the United States, beginning play in 2023. The league will be owned and operated by the United Soccer League. History USL announced the formation of the Super League on September 21, 2021. Along with the pre-professional USL W League, which will start in 2022, the USLS is part of the creation of a full pathway for women's soccer. San Francisco Glens Soccer Club, commonly known as SF Glens, is an American soccer club based in San Francisco that was founded in 1961. Their men's first team currently competes in USL League Two and women's first team in the USL W League, both in the fourth tier of the American Soccer Pyramid. Before establishing a USL League Two franchise in 2018, the Glens had been a longtime member of the San Francisco Soccer Football League (SFSFL) and were once affiliated with the San Francisco Seals' PDL team, which is now defunct. Title IX is the most commonly used name for the federal civil rights law in the United States that was enacted as part (Title IX) of the Education Amendments of 1972. It prohibits sex-based discrimination in any school or any other education program that receives funding from the federal government. Oakland Roots Sports Club is an American professional soccer team based in Oakland, California. The club was formed in 2018 by a group of Oakland natives, and began play in the National Independent Soccer Association in the fall of 2019. In 2021, the club joined the second division USL Championship. History The club was formed in July 2018, and would be known as Oakland Roots Sports Club. The club originally was slated to play in the NPSL Founders Cup, but the club ultimately withdrew and instead joined the National Independent Soccer Association, a Division III sanctioned United States Soccer Federation professional league.
