Oakdale is a city in Washington County, Minnesota, United States. It is a suburb of Saint Paul and is on the eastern side of the Twin Cities Metropolitan area. The population was 28,303 at the 2020 census. Oakdale is the 36th largest city in Minnesota by population. Oakdale lies entirely within the North St. Paul–Maplewood–Oakdale school district, ISD 622, and the city's students are split into two high schools within the district. Tartan Senior High School is within the city's boundaries, and serves the southern half of Oakdale. The city's northern residents are served by North High School in North St. Paul. The Oakdale Historic District is a historic district in Mobile, Alabama. Oakdale is located south of downtown, and developed in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It consists of and about 1200 buildings, most of which are middle-class one- and two-story houses. Early development was closest to the trolley lines on Broad Street, Washington Avenue, Marine Street, and Ann Street. The houses reflect the nationally popular styles of their times, including Victorian, Classical Revival, Four square, Craftsman, and Minimal Traditional, and also local styles such as Gulf Coast Cottages ( Miller–O'Donnell House). The Oakdale Theatre (originally known as the Oakdale Musical Theatre) is a multi-purpose performance venue, located in Wallingford, Connecticut. Opened in 1954, the venue consists of an auditorium and domed theatre, known as The Dome at Oakdale. History The music venue was founded by Ben Segal in 1954. At this time, the theatre was an open-air theatre in the round venue seating 1,400. It was located in an alfalfa field near the Oakdale Tavern. The theatre opened in June 1954 and was used primarily for summer stock and thus the venue only operated seasonally. During its inaugural season, the theatre hosted many famous plays including: ''Kiss Me, Kate'', ''South Pacific'' and ''Oklahoma!''. In 1962, Segal purchased the nearby tavern for $600,000. Oakdale is a borough in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,475 at the 2020 census. It is a suburb of Pittsburgh. History Oakdale Borough was incorporated in 1892. On May 18, 1918, a TNT explosion in a local chemical factory killed 200 people. On September 17, 2004, Oakdale was devastated by a flood resulting from the rain brought by the remnants of category 5 Hurricane Ivan. The downpour from Ivan followed a steady rain that had covered the Allegheny County area from category 4 Hurricane Frances, which struck the area just 10 days before Ivan hit. The flooding caused a large-scale evacuation of the community, and brought Red Cross volunteers and National Guard members to the area in an effort to control the confusion.
